Thanks for this.......... I'll be watching this remembering as a 17yr old making my oath of enlistment (Aussie Army) so many, many years ago to her and her heirs and successors.......I suspect the odd tear or two...... |
I can really relate to your comment. I'm in the same boat, except for Qld Police. Funny how those oaths make such a huge impact on your life. Something that I think is missing today. :-) |
Same boat as you both of you. As a 17yo in the R.A.N. (Royal Australian Navy). This makes me feel really old. lol Rip old girl. You had one hell of a run! |
Her Majesty's Royal Air Force for me. No longer serving but proud of the time I did. |
Same .. Aussie Army. Noted it stated Heirs and Successors. Always wondered if all that have taken that oath could actually vote or campaign for a Republic! Wouldn't that be treason :-) |
Same Australian Regular Army - QEII and her heirs, which I took as a pledge to King Chuck in 88. Anyway, my oath was invalid. I asked to give an Affirmation, they ordered me to Swear an Oath. Then they kicked me out on my arse after doing my job. So much for oaths. Like a lot of things, NOT THE MONARCH'S FAULT. |
Brace yourselves, a storm of commemorative documentary movies is coming. |
Fortunately, there's no bracing needed to ignore them. [which for some reason is offensive language according to some moderates and therefor deleted. go figure…] |
Charles has been waiting to be King for 74 years & now he don't care anymore. He wishes he could have been King 20 years ago when he was younger but with his Mother by his side as well. |
So why didn't his Mother no 'retire' and hand him the reigns? Or is William/Harry/Meghan going to be 70-odd before they take the Crown? Also Charlie didn't need to take the job but then Queen Camila would have missed out Bet her face lit up when she heard the 'sad news' |
Does this movie include the faffing around with the pen case at Charlie's signing some huge documents or whatever it is called ceremony? We watched it live on CNN and were laughing out loud at his grimace but now they always cut if off before the funny bit |
There is a new leaking pen clip over on BBC News "It's getting everywhere. *grimaces* Gawd I hate this. Bloody pen. Stinking pen." |
Hopefully not in King Charles' hands... It doesn't seem to me a pet lover. |
Apparently, Nonce Andrew will get them... Poor dogs! |
They stopped raising Corgis years ago. The whole concept was to have dogs that will die the same time with the Queen. The ones that are still alive are old and gonna have much better last years than me and you. |
Now that should raise some questions. How come they'll be warm this winter and you won't? Progress, year 2022. |
Edward and his daughter have been promoted to Royal Dog Watchers |
Fun fact: Her dogs are 'Dorgis' A corgi/dachshund cross-breed |
The wife's a dog groomer an I can't hear, or read, the term "King Charles", without putting "Spaniel" at the end of it. Disrespectful... probably. Funny... definitely. =D |
Now just watch how many British occupied entities start jumping ship now that the Queen has died positioning themselves to become republics. Among the Queens personal wealth (thats not the Crown Estate) is Balmoral Castle in Scotland, it is the most expensive and expansive piece of property in the entire country......stolen and occupied for centuries. How long have countries like Ireland, Scotland and Australia been struggling to break away.....Charles being crowned King is exactly the reason to do it...... My money says the Monarchy and all its bullshit dies with the Queen |
couldnt agree more SR, most countries that have been occupied by the monarchy head by this woman have been waiting for years for her to die and now she has. Charles wont be around long and then we have William who is a carbon copy of his dad...Its over |
King Charlie is a mere 73 years-young. If he lives as long as his mother did that another *reaches for pocket calculator* 26 years Over a quarter of a century Don't hold your breath waiting, bud |
Just found this 'A man who ‘predicted’ the date of the Queen’s death on Twitter has also predicted the length of King Charles’ reign. Logan Smith initially posted back in July that the UK's longest-serving monarch would die on September 8, 2022. The prediction sadly came true last week after Her Majesty passed away in Balmoral surrounded by members of the Royal Family. Smith’s tweet has now gone viral after he also predicted in the same post that King Charles would die on March 28 in 2026.' |
Yeah right Guest 3100 look at the alternative round the world, how do you feel about the elected selection we have or worse the dictators ? Give me the good old monarchy any day. The modern ones are nothing like the warlike kings of yesteryear. Charles is a good man and for god sake lets shut up about Andrew, anyone would think he was a mass murderer. So 'maybe' he had sex with a 17 year old so what? legal in most parts of the world, she gained hugely from it . Funny Trump, the great friend of Epstein, was never, sued or vilified for his part in that world. Less of an easy target perhaps. |
You don't realise that any prime minister (or whatever they're called elsewhere) could just as easily be a dictator as a president, because it's not the monarch prohibiting despotism, but the parliament? This is why people still defend monarchies: they refuse to think. |
Not to mention that parliamentary democracy is developed exactly to prohibit despotism of monarchs. Most of the world has outgrown the Middle Ages. |
@ guest-4007 correct. For instance, The king of Italy Vittorio Emanuele III didn't stop the March on Rome by fascists, this way helping Mussolini to start the dictatorship. And not only, he also escaped from Italy after that. But the worst thing in Guest-3183's comment is justifying sex with minors. |
I think you have forgotten, that Bill Clinton was 'he great friend of Epstein'. |
Epstein's circle "only" affected a few dozen girls. Dictators around the world have through the ages affected (and killed) and do affect to this very day billions of people. I wouldn't be so definite which one is "worse". We can agree on the fact though that the comment posted by Guest-3183 makes very little sense. |
Fun fact: the modern monarchies have been founded by the warlike kings of yesteryear through war, intrigue and murder. It's their grand-, grand-, grand-, grand-, grandchildren that profit from their bloodshed by no other achievement than being born in that nest. Wow, respect… |
@ Guest-1480 I always look on the 'Monarchy' as the most ruthless gang in town, the one that fought over, sequestrated, and held on to land and riches Their history is soaked in blood Not even a US President comes close |
We are always wary of any comment on here pre-faced by 'fun fact(oid)' or 'pro-tip' They never contain any fact(oid)s or tips |
Sure the US president comes as close and surpasses many. He too rules a nation that was formed by bloodshed and attempted genocide. Only difference is, he doesn't "earn" his title by birthright, but has to buy it. |
@Guest-3390: the above mentioned "fun fact" is fact, but certainly not fun. Pick up a history book. Any. |
A majority of the population seems to think othervise....... |
I agree we don't need them, never did. The only people that are in step with the monarchy are those who agree with all the butchery and thievery that they got up to. Honestly, people are dense. |
There is always one like you! Thankfully most of the rest of the population and much of the world think different, you muppet. |
Yeah, I agree. I won't cry for her. Never met her. |
