 | Loving this show, thank you TGxTV for a quality share   And y'know, if you're trying to represent modern western society remotely accurately, then race and sexuality need to be there. How they're dealt with depends on the context of the show/movie/writer. This is a fantasy epic, published in 1954 and written over many years previous. 1940s and 50s England were not very cozy places for cultural or sexual minorities and, as I recall, Tolkien never included any lesbian elves (oooh, Galadiel and Éowyn mmm... but I shouldn't stray off-topic  ), though he definitely spoke about "dark elves", and "swarthy" folk (take from that what you will). So, it would seem that including such minorities is definitely up to the whim of the new writers. As a queer woman, I'm with tosgravely all the way, who gives a fuc*? |

Some truly creative people have given this their best shot -- and a sh!tload of $$$ -- and what they've produced is well written and looks amazing. Even if you only think of it as "inspired by the LotR" it's thoroughly enjoyable. |

 | It's too bad the mainstream reviewers got their greedy hands on the series before everyone else got to enjoy it. They soured it, echoing cries of boredom and non-relevance. The score tanked as this beautifully shot and written piece of cinematic grandeur gasped for air. Perhaps the critics had just binged the MCU and were expecting instant action and megan thee stallion cameos on top of non-stop one liners and quirky dialogue. I, for one, am highly appreciative that there's still a show with enough balls to build up it's slew of characters before heading into battle full steam. I adore the dedication to dialogue and cheerful nod to Tolkein's style of writing and wonderment through deep character and setting exploration. For those whose attention span isn't measured in nanoseconds, a true appreciation should be expected. |

| Except everything @Tosgravely and @xplozion wrote, is total garbage. This does not live up to Toiken's vision. And Tokien's vision and lore should be handled with very meticulous people who know the lore. There is a reason why Amazon could not story tell in the 3rd age. |

And xplozion the ones crying about the elf skin tone are the same who are enraged because women are leads, or because someone add a gay character or write a series for the gay community. |
