Funny line. Cop to defence attorney: "Yeah, we couldn't find any evidence, no fingerprints, nothing. That means evidence must have been destroyed." |
That is up there with 'She got off on a 'technicality. She was found 'not guilty' |
This is one of those Movies you know is going to be Great before you watch it. Reese Witherspoon help Produce this movie. This is not your Mama's Lifetime or Hallmark Movie. |
Major flaw, though, in the script. Without spoilers: would your fiancée allow you to always wear memorabilia from your ex? |
That blonde fiancée appeared out of the blue in a "Deus ex Machina" move. The memorabilia was there just to show the contrived machinations, planning and flawless execution of the crime, and the red fibers were placed to deflect blame, to make us wonder if maybe the good guy did it and she was protecting him. Sigh. |
Had you watched the entire movie and understood, you would have known that the memorabilia plays a huge part in the story (last scene). And sorry, but it is highly unlikely that any fiancée would encourage to wear that one, knowing it's from an ex of his. Yet, it is the one thing that ties her to the crime. |
Now what? Why delete again? Watch the goddamn movie and tell me I'm wrong. And no, I'm not giving spoilers, like the guest I was responding to does. |
Without giving spoilers in the final few frames we are left in no doubt whodunnit |
You can find Flaws in every movie. I think that this Movie is the best of the year so far & leave it at that. |
Yep, this is indeed a good movie So good we are going to watch it again |
Yep, if you lk hard enough you can find flaws in the most flawless of diamonds |
The story is about a family of three living in the wilderness. The daughter didn't know that the mother was actually abducted by her father. The mother and the daughter finally managed to escape the man. The movie is a slow moving but a gripping thriller...nonetheless it is quite an interesting movie. If you enjoyed this movie, I highly recommend that you watch last year's movie 'Where the Crawdads Sing'. It is a much better movie. Thanks to GalaxyRG for sharing. |
Great in general but quite inconsistent. They start selling her as wild, dirty and mute in prison almost helpless like Jodie Foster's Nell, but when it is convenient for the story she is then brilliant, refined, educated, eloquent and able to defend herself pretty well. First she's captured and the police find a literal red herring at her derelict house, but near the end we see she had renovated the house and bought new furniture just before those events. So, they want to have the cake and eat it too. |
She was never presented as mute, only as not willing to talk when first in prison. She lived alone in the marsh from a very young age on, how is that "helpless"? |
Of course, of course, but what makes you think I don't see all that? Do you get my point is about consistency, continuity and a coherent story? I don't ask much from cheap movies, but for this level of production I start picking straws. |
If you see all that, why do you still write it? Yes, there are plot holes, but find me a movie without a single one, even in mega productions. E.g., the police enters her house without a search warrant which renders the obtained evidence invalid. Mister lawyer, why didn't you use that? |
@ Guest-1919 Yeah, well, the police DID enter her property without a warrant but the door was left open, is that allowed? Anyway, her lawyer never argued the point at trial Not that it spoiled our enjoyment of the movie in any way |
Guest-3313 How do you know? Where you there for the WHOLE trial? Maybe the point was made in the Judge's chambers? Just sayin' |
Thanks so much GalaxyRG as always for taking the time to share and upload this excellent movie I enjoyed every aspect of the story, acting and presentation.... scenery, old home and all that was shown throughout, so much so I have watched it twice in the last week! Definitely a movie I will be keeping to enjoy with my daughter (when finally home from OS). I think it has to be one of the best movies out in a long time that I can recall but my memory is only good for short times. Highly recommend it to anyone that likes a good drama, thriller, mystery story. Audio and Video both excellent 9/10 |
Great movie A good did-she-or-didn't-she with a 'twist' thrown in in the final few frames Gorgeous cinematography Top-notch production values, but this is a Columbia Pictures (A Sony Pictures Company) so you wouldn't expect anything less Reminded us of Lotawana and Louisiana, well, the locations at least Although felt more 'watery' particularly Louisiana The big difference thought is that those movies were filmed entirely on location, but parts of this were filmed on a '2nd Sound Stage' We couldn't figure out how Daisy Edgar-Jones could still lk as hot as Hell after living for so long out in the marsh Inconsistency abound Good watch Thnx TxG |
Louisiana? You sure you aren't thinking of Lost Bayou, bud |
