if i want education and truth I know I'm not going to find it there, and so should you all. So do yourselves a favor, enjoy entertainment for what it is, nothing more and you feel so much better not ranting about subject matter you have no chance in hell of changing. |
People wanting a historically correct fictional american series but don't want a historically correct american history in their school or just in reality who also get mad when non-white characters are in fictional movies of a non-existant galaxy living in an imaginary planet.... |
The Black woman doesn't play, nor was she recruited, for the AAGPBL. She is a woman who lives in Rockford and can apparently pitch like Satchel Paige. She is friends with one of the Peaches. It was also fairly well known within the AAGPBL that there were a number of lesbians in the league. Check out the documentary "A Secret Love" (2020) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3260524/. So, they haven't changed history, they're just looking at it through a modern lens. |
if this is a historical drama, then I agree with Jaxe. I'm an armchair historian. if it's categorized as fictional comedy, i have no problem with it. I like comedy,if it fulfills the objective of being funny. I know why Jaxe is upset. but as long as you're aware of the fact you're recognizing material that's meant to influence people to a particular political or social agenda which admittedly is occurring with social and entertainment media and news media it shouldn't stop you from enjoying, listening, reading or watching it, as long as the signaling doesn't sacrifice the goal of being entertaining ,but when it is sacrificed, then you know it's sole purpose is designed for something else. I personally don't mind the injection of messaging as long as I'm entertained, because I'm oblivious to propaganda of any form,. as long as I can recognize it as such, which for me is somewhat simple. If you're one who thinks this is some new trend exclusive to this era, then you are already a victim of propaganda. All media has been engaged in this. In the movie industry, from inception, DW Griffin's Birth of a nation comes to mind. In news media, WR Hearst was it's leading exponent in his time.I advise people who really worry about this stuff to educate yourselves on the subject of propaganda and social influencing. My recommendation for novices is "Propaganda "by Edward Bernays (Sigmund Freud's nephew) and "How to read a Book" by Mortimer Adler undoubtedly in my opinion, one of the most important books written in the 20th century. But if you're one who knows this already and you just can't get past it, you need to stop watching and listening and reading practically everything. If media platforms are putting out content that injects "woke" "LGBT" or any other socially engineering or diversification messaging and it's entertaining to me, I'm ok with it. ( star trek strange new worlds for example) I think some folks are either aware that propaganda message influencing exists in practically everything, but are picking certain social and political ones that they disagree with to criticize or are ignorant to the fact that most likely, their own political and social viewpoints had at one time also been used and perpetuated in the same propaganda device. if i want education and truth I know I'm not goi |
Great! They took another great story which was also made into a great movie and reboot it to make it woke, feminist, LGBTQ and man hating. During Word War 2, 1941-1945, when this show is set, there were no desegregated women baseball teams. 2nd paragraph after "FOUNDING AND PLAY" near the top of the page: The women's initial tryouts were held at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Scouted from amateur softball games across the country, over 200 women were invited to try out, and about 60 were selected for the league roster. Like the male major-league, the 'girls' league was also informally segregated, thus NO AFRICAN AMERICANS WERE RECRUITED OR HIRED. Also in those days anyone who was Gay or Lesbian, they did not come out or let anyone know. They were subject to rejection and persecution and even criminal arrest. These are 2 reviews about this series that say how it was changed to tick all the boxes. https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-league-of-their-own-series-goes-woke-with-queer-stories-and-women-of-color https://www.npr.org/2022/08/11/1116855780/a-league-of-their-own-2022-amazon-prime-review |

"Genre: Comedy Drama Sport" Not Genre: Historically Accurate Baseball Documentary Curated As Not to Trigger Jaxe |
It's fiction dude. It means it's entertainment, not historically correct... Then you get upset with those who tell you are part of a "crystal generation" and cry to the admins to delete those comments. |
History is just agreed upon lies. 2020s cinema will whitewash America's racist past for todays generation. |
Good series - episodes and Print - Thanks for the share GalaxyTV ... A / V = 8 |
Guest-2520 the problem is that someone falsifies history in the name of political correctness. |
The same problem happens in movies about fighting aliens. It's not "political correctness", is little cry babies angry because a movie, not intended for them, don't like women as protagonists. In fact, a crystal generation. |
It has nothing to do with not liking female protagonists, it has to do with couching history in "woke", PC terms. In a film about the AAGBPL, OF COURSE your gonna have female protagonists but none of them should be Black since there were NO Black players! It's as stupid as a Comanche squaw being war chief in 1719... |
yall do need a real edumacation try looking up Olivia Taylor and Toni Stone. The Negro League did include black women players during the war .... you just would never see them in the same stadium together now this was was unheard of .... |
Thanks for the upload! Reviews (if you dig past the history "buffs") are really good for a comedy series so glad to give it a try. For those it offends please remember "There is No Crying in Baseball!" |
Sorry but I will stick to the original 1992 version. Remakes are total now. |
If its truly as great as all the liberal hive minds suggest, then it should do well in ratings. Lets wait and see. |
nope this wasnt funny when it came out with Rosie or Madonna and this isnt any better, so thank you but absolutely not! |
I loved the movie and was looking forward to this show - until I saw the cover. I am so sick and tired of the industry changing history for the sake of "inclusion", be it race, gender (in the ACTUAL sense of the word, not the "woke" idiocy), homosexuality, or whatever. Historical fact: no women of color ever played in the AAGPBL, period, just as there were no Black royals or nobles in Old England, no Black or Asian Norse gods. With the way popular media has supplanted actual education these days we, in fostering such ridiculous inaccuracies in historically-based movies and shows, are raising a generation of idiots. |
It's comedy. Co-me-dy. COMEDY. CC OO MM EE DD YY. FFS how can you guys breathe and walk at the same time? |
Buddy I hate to break it to you, but Norse gods aren't real. There's no "historical accuracy" to mythological beings. Besides, if they were, they could absolutely look like Idris Elba if they wanted to (and why wouldn't they want to?) |
