Firestarter, il film diretto da Keith Thomas, è un nuovo adattamento del classico thriller di Stephen King e racconta la storia di Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), una bambina con poteri pirotecnici, che si scatenano soprattutto quando lei è arrabbiata o quando soffre. I suoi genitori, Andy (Zac Efron) e Vicky (Sydney Lemmon), sono al corrente delle grandi abilità della figlia, ma cercano di nasconderla per evitare guai. Nonostante Vicky abbia insegnato a Charlie come controllare il suo potere, un'agenzia federale è a conoscenza di questa sua dote e vuole usarla a suo favore come arma di distruzione di massa, motivo per cui la famiglia spesso è in fuga.
