In 1909, Denmark's Alabama Expedition led by Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen was attempting to disprove the United States' claim to North Eastern Greenland, a claim that was rooted in the idea that Greenland was broken up into two different pieces of land. Leaving their crew behind with the ship, Mikkelsen sleds across the ice with his inexperienced crew member, Iver Iversen. The two men succeed in finding the proof that Greenland is one island, but returning to the ship takes longer and is much harder than expected. Battling extreme hunger, fatigue and a polar bear attack, they finally arrive to find their ship crushed in the ice and the camp abandoned.

| not bad, a decent watch. reminded me of the recent tv show of a expedition like this but the bear was two times the size of this one. someone out there knows the name of the show, and i think it went two seasons. |

 | Thanks so much @Jaxe and @Reaper for the reviews, and for TGx for bringing it to us, mid week too! :) I didn't expect a midweek release from .NF & sometimes we'll already have it in the US vs. Europe for example but typically it's the latter, they get it first, and then we get it a few days to a week later! This has been a constant, as I'll usually look up the movie when I go to review it, and when I see the NF, I open it up only to find it's already on ours, and there was no downloads for the last few days? The torrent was outstanding, A/V=10 5 stars, and the Movie=6.5 (reduced score for having to read subs...otherwise would have been in the 7.0-7.5 range). Really didn't have overly high expectations but it ended up being really good, in fact many scenes led to just an incredible movie! :) Many of the scenes mentioned were so realistic, it made me wonder if they were being shot to re-enact certain events/times from a historical perspective? Don't want to give to much away, but if you like this genre, (Adventure,History) the movie is one you won't want to let pass by, as it will keep your interest the entire way! The one thing about the movie that you need to be willing to overlook is, you will need to watch it with subs that's mentioned, and since it's a Netflix movie, there are no shortages of them, for many languages. Of course, if you're from Denmark, no subs required is ideal, as this isn't a "hardcoded" subs movie anyway. When I looked it up at home, on the Mrs. .NF it looks like I can set it on English Audio & it works just fine! I've noticed that occurs sometimes, that the .NF copy out there will be the original, instead of pulling one from English, whoever grabs it, seems to want to get the "native" version from .NF, and if you like reading movies, this is the one for you! :) Enjoy!  |
