The Farmers’ Country Showdown S06 E16-E20 (1280x720p HD, 50fps, soft Eng subs)

Series celebrating inspirational farming families and the rural events where they showcase their hard work, as they try to win the top prizes.

E16  Mid Devon Show
For Dartmoor tenant farmers Louise and Olly, winning prizes for their Beltex sheep at the Mid Devon Show means a lot. Louise needs that recognition as a top breeder to secure their future, which is especially important now their young children clearly love farming life. Meanwhile, Amelia and Ben are so committed to rearing their Charollais sheep that they rent land and hold down other jobs to make their farming dream pay. Show day is a chance to go head-to-head with the best breeders in the country, and for their four-year-old son to face the judge showing his own sheep.

E17 Westmorland County Show
Rodney and Annabell’s Cumbrian farm has been in the family for 80 years, and since the beginning has always reared Ayrshire cattle. With their finest cows in tow, they return to the competition ring at the Westmorland County Show to try to win one of the top prizes. Meanwhile, Cheshire farmer Helen is getting her pedigree Red Poll cattle in top condition with welcome help from friend Thomas. She has set her sights on a champion win, but as both pairs are taking their own favourites into the show ring and will be in direct competition with one another, anything could happen.

E18 Staffordshire County Show
Livestock farmer Lyn is proud that her sons, Thomas and Jack, have inherited her passion for rearing and promoting rare-breed animals. It means running their North Yorkshire farm is a family effort. However, they are all preparing for stiff competition against each other at the Staffordshire County Show. With their own different rare-breed flocks, Jack has high hopes that he will beat his mum in the show ring when his spiralled-horned Boreray meets her four-horned Manx Loaghtan. Meanwhile, Jersey cattle farming couple Jan and David, and his daughter Fiona, are just as determined to bag themselves a row of rosettes for their Shropshire farm. David has competed at the Staffordshire County Show for nearly 40 years and is confident he knows how to become a champion. They have each picked their favourite cow and will all go head-to-head in the show ring. However, Fiona’s got a job on her hands dealing with her grumpy Jersey.

E19 Guildford Farmers’ Market
Friends and livestock farming duo Ian and Luke are passionate about producing high quality meat, and a vital location for selling it is Guildford Farmers’ Market in Surrey. Ian is keen to use his hospitality background, attracting customers with cooking advice, and hopes that the warm weather will bring out the barbecuing buyers. This market is also important for John, a third-generation Sussex fruit farmer. As well as picking his finest fresh fruit, he also makes apple juice so he can pocket as many sales as possible. With over 1,000 customers expected, the farmers hope it will be a lucrative day away from their jobs at the farm.

E20 The Royal Cheshire County Show
Goat breeders Sam and Jess are excited to have a day away from their Sheffield smallholding and head to the Royal Cheshire County Show with their beloved goat herd in tow. A lot rides on today’s results, including whether their male goat Apollo becomes a champion winner this year. Meanwhile, goat farming couple Mark and Graeme from Catterick have been monitoring milk yields and ensuring their pedigree herd is in top condition for the competition. Devoted to his goats, Mark hopes a perfect performance will be rewarded with the very best rosettes.
