this is one of the best ever wartime films in the pics above on the far left you will see a man with a burnt face , he is an actual War Hero W.G. Foxley (Squadron Leader Evans) was a Royal Air Force navigator, whose face and hands were badly burned attempting to rescue a fellow crew member after a bomber crash in 1944. Due to his injuries, he lost an eye and several fingers, as well as his other facial injuries. I wanted to make note of this so he wasn't just some burnt character in a war film I felt it is worth mentioning that he actually served and very much made sacrifices for us all. In other words, what viewers see is his actual face and not special make-up. This movie became regarded as a patriotic tribute to "the few", that many of those involved in the production, actors, and technicians, reduced their normal fees to work on this movie. Much of the large budget went toward the acquisition, restoration, modification, maintenance, and operation of the vintage aircraft. if you are interested in knowing more about the film people involved and other trivia relating to the film and the stories within it, here is a link . it's well worth the read if you like to know a little more about why what and who and just other bits of info I believe make the film a bit more wholesome https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064072/trivia |

Yes this was produced by the same duo who made the James Bond films in the 1960's with Sean Connery. At the time they had the largest private air force in the word and the 35th largest air force in the world. All the planes you see in the movie, British and German, were real World War 2 bombers and fighters. Over 109 aircraft were used during the filming. |
