Howdy! I understand what jaxe is saying. This is a bit creepy, and if you suffer from Claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces) this movie will give you serious nightmares. Overall, however, I'm with HorrorPros, who summed it up very well in his comments above. Tip: if you fast-forward this, you'll miss the excellent spooky tunnel special FX, which are the highlight of the flick, imho. The foreign language bits are French, by the way. Warning: This is for serious fans of the horror / thriller genre. If you liked the SAW franchise, you might enjoy this movie - but I think it's a wee bit too creepy for the average person. Runtime is 1 hour and 30 minutes. A/V is excellent. Rating it 7/10 for the above average (and creepy) special FX. Thank you, GalaxyRG. And thanks to HorrorPros for the good review. |
- great effects and they spent some good money on the set and props, but i guess when its just a tube, you can splurge. -the ending had an unexpected twist that you wont see coming. -the acting was good, Gaia Wiess' performance was powerful. -story line was good also, i think there was a deeper meaning in this movie related to her struggle to find a way out, i think it was related to a tragic experience in her life, i wont say more because spoilers obviously. -the execution of the pacing, as well as each obstacle along her path, is well done. -overall, meander is a cluster of a high stakes and a high tension-filled time. -effects and budget 8/10 -story line 6/10 -acting 7/10 overall -7/10 stay spooky friends- |
The effects in this are more realistic than Saw There is no tongue-in-cheek, no semblance of over-the-top-ness, not let up, no chance to let sum steam out the 'relief' valve in this This makes you feel like if you (Gaia Weiss) doesn't find a way out of that damned tunnel you will either go mad, starve to death, thirst to death, or something much worse There is no 'dilution' in this But this is fantastic news if you like your horror neat You won't see the twists coming either Meander has a lot of good elements neatly woven together |
This thing was nominated and won for awards? Really? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5752192/awards/ |
what was left out: 1-how they got there. 2-who took them 3-why they were taken 4-did she die 5-was she put in some kind of trans could have been a MUCH better flick with answers to those questions plastered throughout the flick. this guy has made a movie called "hostile" and he seems to like using the lone woman survivor theme. he has many unaccredited collaborations in his list of accomplishments or non-accomplishments, so looks like he's finally taking off on his own. *Note to Mathieu Turi...... think these scrips through better in the future. |
Well, this really did bring out the claustrophobe in me 'Meander' is like a mix of Cube, Buried, Saw and that other flick where the woman was trapped underwater in a flooding house - Relentless, and a few other movies too Some of the scenes really will make you feel trapped, like being stuck in a serious of tunnels must be like one of everyone's worst nightmares This gives you a palpable 'trapped' feeling in your head It will linger long after you finish the movie so beware if you are a serious claustrophobe - this will mess with your head I can STILL sense it This is well above average for 'horror' fare, perfectly 'watchable' nothing 'trashy' and cheap about this, well produced, good production values, and a didn't-see-that-one-coming ending to boot |
I didn't like it. I finally had to skip to the end and not watch the rest of it. Also there are scenes where the dialogue is not English. I do not know what language it was but there are hardcoded English subtitles. |
