Summary

Ibsen's best-known play displays his genius for realistic prose drama. An expression of women's rights, the play climaxes when the central character, Nora, rejects a smothering marriage and life in "a doll's house."

My notes

 This is another recode from a group of plays in the Proshot collection.  More on the Proshot series of magnet files is contained in the NFO which is in this folder.

 Without saying too much about it this is the first time this play by Henrik Ibsen captured my attention.  Many Noras have come before but Hattie Morahan gives a performance which is stunning.

Dominic Rowan appears often in these live plays.  I first saw him in The Globe's As You Like It and saw what would be just a sampling of his range.  Here and in "Medea" Carrie Cracknell has cast him well.

  The setting is a marvel of ingenuity.  Very often the doll's house theme is carried into the setting.  Here it actually reaches the goal in three dimensions and in an unique way.    

 Elsewhere in my file share group is an experimental piece whose subject is Ibsen's An Enemy Of the People As Brecht's Teaching Play.  I found it in an online search.  Ibsen dealt with many social issues.  An Enemy Of The People is one  of my favorite plays. It is not performed often enough.
