Summary

   Pericles travels to Antioch to win the hand of the King's daughter by solving a riddle
- only to discover that its answer is a secret so dark that he will be put to death if he
reveals it. When Pericles asks for more time, the King grows suspicious and dispatches an
assassin; Pericles, however, has already made his escape by sea. But then a storm
shipwrecks him on an island, where he meets and marries Thaisa. Eventually learning that
the King of Antioch has died, Pericles sets sail again for home - but his journey of
Homeric proportions has only just begun.

   When Pericles discovers the dread answer to Antioch's riddle, he flees for his life
straight into famine, shipwreck, love, fatherhood, and another shipwreck; he loses his wife
and daughter, and doesn't find them again until the story moves us through resurrection,
attempted murder, pirates, prostitution, and divine revelation.

 This is another in the briefly run plays shown on the major streaming facility to raise funds during the worldwide theatre shutdown.

 The rarely performed play (there is one from BBC in their series of all the plays  in the 1980's) has recently been presented at the Globe as well.

  Here at the Stratford is a smaller production where much of the narration occurs
directly to the audience in the manner of The Chorus in Henry V.  There are many twists and
turns in Pericles.  Enjoy the show which will no doubt bear watching more than once to get
all the details.  Please support the theatres when you can and where you can.

  The SRT format subtitle files were from the Stratford source as English.  I've added a
few more in no special order or method but I have included a help file for viewers to add additional
subtitles in their selected language from sources that have many from which to choose.
