Johnny Staccato starring John Cassavetes 1959  B/W

 From the Wiki:

Johnny Staccato is an American private detective series starring John Cassavetes which ran for 27 episodes on NBC from September 10, 1959 through March 24, 1960.

  Synopsis

Titular character Johnny Staccato, played by John Cassavetes, is a jazz pianist/private detective. The setting for many episodes is a Greenwich Village jazz club belonging to his friend, Waldo, played by Eduardo Ciannelli. The show featured many musicians, such as Barney Kessel, Shelly Manne, Red Mitchell, Red Norvo, and Johnny Williams. (Although the show was set in New York City, all of these men were closely identified with the West Coast jazz scene, and it was filmed largely in Los Angeles.) Elmer Bernstein composed both of the main theme tunes used and Stanley Wilson was music supervisor. Cassavetes also directed five episodes.

Each of the folders in this megapack (27 episodes is a megapack for me) has a the description.  episode number and guest star in it's own text file.  Cassavetes, noted independent film director in his own right,   directed several of the episodes and that is noted.  It features actors such as his wife Gena Rowlands and John Marley who would appear in the Cassavetes films.  The descriptions etc were transcribed from the Wiki for the series manually.

A link to a print essay on the history of the show is in the NFO.

My notes

Johnny Staccato became available from the same company that made Science Fiction Theater by Ivan Tors just a few years ago.  The individual episodes I had running on a previous index but these are all my rips from the original DVD set.

It's a series I've remembered since seeing it's first run on over the air tv in the 1950s.

Some numbering errors will be corrected as I add the folders from those original single episodes.  I borrowed that idea from a torrent uploader called The Executive.  Those single episodes are still out there from whomever might keep them going.  The repack is to gather them together in one source.

avatarThanks for the comment.  I remember these from real time when I was growing up.  Other true classics are hard to find like George C Scott in David Suskind's "East Side,  West Side."  A significant role for Cicely Tyson in that one.
