Two things:

   First,  go to Youtube and see The RIAS tribute to Stan Kenton (1996.)   Though I knew a bit about the band from their "Meets Allen Farnham" release, the Kenton tribute was an eye-opener.  It shoud be recorded to DVD and given subtitles.

  "German Folk Songs... Our Way"   I found on Youtube by accident.  I enjoyed the tracks so much I had my public library get it.

  This is a high energy recording which belies the rather staid and dour cd art you'll see on the youtube site and the cd jewel box image.

   Second, The torrent is given for those who may see my torrent list and in the hope that you get the cd for your libraries and, where possible. promote it for high school and college jazz bands.  I think the arrangements would fit well in that learning environment.  Full disclosure is I do not speak German and am not familiar with these folk songs.  Those that do know them will enjoy them all the more.

   On a related note,  the series from Lincoln Center captured to Youtube called "Essentially Ellington" is a nonstop treat of high school bands in national competition at Lincoln Center.  I went through the whole list.

  And of course the leader of RIAS has the best name ever for a jazz player.  Jiggs Whigham played with Stan Kenton.  The arrangements here are both classic big band and modern at the same time.  Jiggs is now with the BBC Big Band in Britain at my last reckoning.
