Subtitles are not hard-coded - IE: They are not burned in. The subtitles are in the metadata as part of the file, but you can turn them on and off.

Just curious regarding the file formats...
Anyone know why we see TV shows in the more efficient x265 that makes smaller files while retaining quality, yet most movies like this remain in x264? Almost seems backwards as you'd want the longer/larger content to be more efficiently packaged.
