Because you probably checked the remux version of a US Blu-ray release. This is the UK Blu-ray... Different bitrates.

Sorry you're having an issue. It plays fine on my PC through VLC and also on my Sony BD- player. I watch them as M2TS, but either containers will play... MKV or M2TS. Sounds like you may have some hardware issues or conflictions. VLC does have ...

It should be obvious that not all BD's come with subs and not all sources provide them! Obviously the source I got it from did not provide one or I would have added it. Stop complaining, feel free to download & add your own subs or go buy...
