Unblocking Torrent Galaxy

Internet service providers can use DNS blocking, IP address blocking, URL blocking or any other technical method to block access to the torrent websites. DNS-level blocks are extremely easy to bypass. All you need to do is go into your network settings and change your DNS server address.

There are multiple ways to get around the blocking of a site by your internet service provider or company/school. Below there are multiple ways explained to circumvent the block. Some are more simple then others to use.

Short link of site

This is a very simple method. It won’t work in all blocks, but it is worth a try. You can use these sites to shorten the link:
  • bitly.com
  • TinyURL

Type the address of the site in the space provided by those sites.

    Image error

It will give the shortened version of URL and you can use this address to try to bypass the blocked page.

    Tor browser

Tor will let you access blocked websites on any connection. Tor does have a big downside — it’s much, much slower than typical web browsing. It will allow you to access blocked websites, but it shouldn’t be used for all your day-to-day browsing. Tor allows youto browse by routing your web browsing over and encrypted network before it emerges at an endpoint. To stay private you can use both Tor and a VPN together. Connect to your VPN and then launch Tor browser.

You can download the Tor Browser here.

    Installing Tor Browser:

Step 1. Open the downloaded .exe file.

Step 2. Select your preferred language and click on “OK”.

    Image error

Step 3. Choose destination folder and click on “Install”.

    Image error

Step 4. Wait for the Tor Browser to install.

    Image error

Step 5. Now click on "Finish".

    Image error

Step 6. Click on “Connect” to open Tor Browser.

    Image error

How to setup Tor Browser if your country tries to block Tor:

Step 1. When you come to step 6 of the installation shown above, click on "Configure" instead of "Connect".

    Image error

Step 2. Check the box ""Tor is censored in my country".

    Image error

Step 3. Chose a built-in bridge. It depends on your country which bridge is the best.

    Image error

Step 4. Click on "Connect" to start using Tor Browser.

    Image error

How to access the Torrent Galaxy onion site:

Step 1. Open the Tor Browser through the shortcut.

    Image error

Step 2. Always make sure you use the latest version of Tor. If not, update to the latest version here.

    Image error

Step 3. Enter the .onion url found at the bottom of our site into the address bar of the browser and connect.

    Image error

Note 1: Don’t access .onion sites through proxies like Tor2Web. The proxy connects to Tor for you and then forwards you the traffic over the regular Internet. Your connection to the proxy is not secure that way. Your internet service provider can see what sites you are connecting to.

Note 2: Important things about your safety and Tor Browser:
  • Don't torrent over Tor. Only your browser connection is protected, not your torrent client
  • Don't enable or install browser plugins in Tor Browser
  • Use HTTPS versions of websites and always check if the url bar in Tor Browser displays https://
  • Don't open documents downloaded through Tor while online
  • Preferably use bridges (see above how to install bridges)

    VPN

VPN allows you to create a secure VPN connection to another network over the Internet. It can be used to access region-restricted websites and shield your browsing and/or torrenting activity from your internet service provider (ISP).

    Image error

Here are some usefull threads on VPN:
  • VPN Troubleshooting
  • Installing and Using OpenVPN

There are also some free VPN services, but they are not recommended for torrenting as they do not protect your privacy. Also see this thread.

    Web proxy

Another way to bypass isp blocking is to use a web based proxy. They however log your activity and place advertisements on the page as they need to pay for their free service. Here are some web based proxies:
  • VPNBook
  • FilterBypass
  • Hidester
  • Hide.me
  • Proxysite.com

    Image error

    DNS server change

Changing the DNS server address will mean you are no longer using the DNS server of your Internet Service Provider where the torrent site is blocked, but a different DNS server without the block on the torrent site.

    Image error

The thread on DNS server change can be found here .

Also you may open any  blocked site with~ Opera browser.
    https://www.opera.com
Just turn on the built-in VPN option.
But this is merely a browser proxy and not an actual system wide VPN.

So for downloading torrents part, this may help~ GoodbyeDPI
    https://github.com/ValdikSS/GoodbyeDPI

That being said, if you are concerned about privacy
or live in a country where torrents are frown upon, a paid VPN is your best bet.

Speaking of browsers, Mozilla Firefox offers a VPN as well. It's pretty good and currently under active development for new features and each container can be set to use a specific MozillaVPN server.
Perfect for double-hopping to some country that has strong freedom of speech and privacy laws to visit sites such as this, while your bank is in your home area, and other sites are in yet another! ;) While still being protected at the OS level and optionally even block malware.

P.S. the link to the DNS thread returns a 404.

I can't access it either, probably because the ip address in the country is blocked.

    Hi,
I accessed the site and was redirected to a page saying either the "fake proxy" or "you" have been banned from the site.  Now I see that I cannot download or upload anything via the u-torrent at my end. So, how can I resolve this situation. I used VPN last night and then receive the ban. I thought maybe the IP address is being abused by many users at once. However, I am still not able to upload or download anything when I turned off my VPN. Does the site ban my MAC address of my network card?

    Need some advice and help!

    Thanks,

    Pat

    Are you on a vpn?
If you are not on a vpn it's possible that your provider is blocking the sites or has put some restrictions on your subscription.
You can try what that Dude mentioned or a vpn.

Maybe you should start using one..
It's safer to do so for yourself.

What is wrong with a free one?
As long as it doesnt leak?

I use Proton VPN. 3 free servers: NL, USA, JP.

It's not only about DNS leaks.  Is your VPN a “no-log VPN”?
A “no-log VPN” is one that doesn’t collect (or log) traffic that passes through its servers.  If it does, anyone can ask them for a copy of where you've been.  Either by a subpoena or being paid for it.

Proton will cut the connection if they find out that you are downloading.
It's not meant for p2p. The free one at least.
But still a decent vpn with proper protection.

A “no-log VPN” is one that doesn’t collect (or log) traffic that passes through its servers.  If it does, anyone can ask them for a copy of where you've been.  Either by a subpoena or being paid for it.

    Does Proton VPN keep logs?

In order to respect our users’ privacy, Proton VPN enforces a strict no-logs policy. This means we keep no session usage logs of what you do online, and we do not log metadata that can compromise your privacy.

We don’t log which websites you visit
We don’t log your traffic or the content of any communications
We don’t log your IP address
We don’t log your session lengths
We don’t log or track any location-based information

This level of privacy is possible in part because we are based in Switzerland, which has some of the strongest data protection and digital privacy laws in the world. Data required for maintenance and troubleshooting purposes is secured using full-disk encryption on all our bare-metal servers, over which we have full control.

Full details about the information that we do store (such as account information) are available in our Privacy Policy. Our apps are all fully open source and independently audited so that you can be sure they are trustworthy, and we aim for transparency in everything we do.

Proton VPN’s Swiss jurisdiction also confers additional benefits which are favorable for VPN services. In most countries, VPNs can be forced to log as the result of government orders, even if they are by default no-logs. However, within the current Swiss legal framework, Proton VPN also does not have forced logging obligations.

This notably differs from Swiss regulations for other online services such as email which is generally not no-logs and can require IP disclosure in the event of a Swiss criminal investigation. That’s why if your threat model requires hiding your IP from Swiss authorities when using Proton Mail, we recommend using a VPN or Tor.

Proton VPN’s strict no-logs policy was tested in a legal case in 2019 where we were ordered to turn over logs to help identify a user and we were unable to comply because such logs did not exist. Our no-logs policy has also been verified by external independent experts.

What they say and what they do are 2 different things but how can you know that?

    Does Proton VPN keep logs?

In order to respect our users’ privacy, Proton VPN enforces a strict no-logs policy. This means we keep no session usage logs of what you do online, and we do not log metadata that can compromise your privacy.

We don’t log which websites you visit
We don’t log your traffic or the content of any communications
We don’t log your IP address
We don’t log your session lengths
We don’t log or track any location-based information
