| The three formats used on Torrent Galaxy are Standard Definition (SD), High Definition (HD) and Ultra High Definition (UHD). The difference between SD, HD, or UHD formats is the number of pixels that comprise the video image. Pixels are the small dots that make the images on your screen. The higher the resolution, the more pixels an image has. Higher pixels means you get a sharper and more detailed picture. The numbers commonly attached to torrent titles represent the vertical resolution of the image. SD Quality SD stands for standard definition. It's the lowest quality and is also known as DVD quality. For most this format is ok for smartphones and tablets. Formats falling under this category are: 240 pixels high × 352 pixels wide (called 240p) 360 pixels high × 480 pixels wide (called 360p) 480 pixels high × 720 pixels wide (called 480p) HD Quality HD stands for high definition. It's a significant bump in quality in comparison to SD quality. The bigger the TV and the closer your viewing position is, the more discernible the differences are, even when comparing 720p and 1080p resolution videos. Formats falling under this category are: 720 pixels high × 1280 pixels wide (called 720p or HD Ready) 1080 pixels high × 1920 pixels wide (called 1080p or Full HD) UHD Quality UHD stands for ultra high definition. It's a significant bump in quality in comparison to SD quality. The bigger the TV and the closer your viewing position is, the more discernible the differences are, even when comparing 720p and 1080p resolution videos. Formats falling under this category are: 1440 pixels high x 2560 pixels wide (called 1440p or 2k) 2160 pixels high × 3860 pixels wide (called 2160p or 4k) SD, HD and UHD comparison Last edited by Angelina on 2019-04-16 20:15:12 | |

| Dear Angelina! An interesting question came up today in moderation: If the width of the video is 1280 pixels but the height is less than 720 pixels, does the code say to use HD or SD markings? It's a long-winded question. Difficult case. I think HD, but let the site managers tell we that for sure. Thank you, Lionel Last edited by LionElBunny on 2023-01-26 18:22:31 | |

| As long as the width is 1280p, the video can be categorized as 720p (HD) The height is often altered due to having the black bars cropped from the top and bottom of the frame. | |
