HardDrive Problem?

Hi,
I'm not sure if it's a problem I should worry about.
My Hard Drive is making these low buzzing noises, sometimes they're not so low. So I checked online, and many don't complain about such noise. It's the clicking sound that we should worry about.
It occurs in different times, sometimes when I turn the PC on. Sometimes after a long while, and sometimes not at all throughout the day.
It's a SATA 3TB and it's only 10 months old. and the cooling fan is the same age.
I downloaded Hard Disk Sentinal and it says all is good, 100% and the temp is 30C.
All my data is backed up and windows 10 runs on an SSD.
So will the noise go away on its own, or is there something I should do?
Thanks:_B)

Hello

Buzzing during a boot or utilizing hard drive when transfers / hd movies / games is alright. Mine does too. As long as it's not constant / too loud / hard drive disconnection , you don't have to worry about it.

But still I would recommend you to check the Event log system viewer.

I checked the even log in windows and there are no hardware events at all.
So when you say "it's not constant" are we talking about the whole time it's on?

Hard Disk Sentinal is very accuate. If it says your drive is ok, then it's most likely ok. Wouldn't hurt the run it now and again and see how many days it says your drive has left. If it's over 1,000 days, you should be ok.

Cheers.

probably just a stylist issue i wouldn't count on it going forever but i have 1 of those since 2013 and its my fault it makes the noise... odds are the drive was once dropped. not a huge issue since its never flawed however i still dont have full trust in it even after this long, not something i would worry about ....
the only true way of knowing is the long test using wd data lifeguard and seatools run both sometimes one picks up something the other missed ...:_B):_:D

I downloaded the WD Data Lifeguard and ran the short test and its says Pass. Running the extended one right now, it might take a bit long, but from your words, I'm hopeful it'll be alright:_:)

the 2 other things avail on your computer is look at event viewer in the system tab it will show you if you have any ntfs errors and you can always rt click the drive go to properties and run check disk.. do i think it will be fine yeah if you use it like i do for storage noise since 2013 when i dropped it cool, if its a daily user i would think about a 3rd encase sht drive..  and like miok said always have a identical back up for drives , i  myself have paid that price before its not fun... :_facepalm

forgot to mention if its a 3.5 everythings good if it is a enclosed drive that a completely different issue as it has attached to the 3.5 a card and software which may be defective i take the 3.5's out,  had to many fail while drives inside has no errors what so ever and were perfect ...

I've got a hdd problem as well; running out of space with the quickness

but for noisy mechanical drives, a deep defrag may help the noise in the sense that the drive doesn't need to work as hard to locate and piece together scattered file chunks, but a defrag itself will not fix any mechanical issue

I would run a check disk as well in case of bad sectors

It would be handy to know if it is an internal drive or external i.e USB. If external it could be that whatever you have it sitting on is amplifying the noise. You can try placing the external drive onto an  old mouse mat or rubber anti slip thingy to see if it helps.
Also another thing is if you are running windows, just last night i caught my external drive making some unexpected loud noises that i never heard before like it was trying to catalogue all contents. On checking my cpu usage to determine the culprit i spotted microsoft edge doing some kind of update (which usually doesnt create these kind of noises) tho the cpu use for it this time was abnormally high i speculate probably Microsoft spying to see the contents of the external hard drive. They collect all kinds of intrusive data under various ruses. I wouldnt put it past them.:_facepalm

I do have an external drive as back-up. It's just the noise of the internal drive that was worrying me. Not used to it and perhaps since I'm not that tech-savvy, the worry-level spikes easily :_:D But getting there. The hard is practically new and not everyday that I'd replace it.
