| Japan's Line said on Friday it will launch a cryptocurrency in September, as the company tries to build up a wide range of businesses using its popular messaging app as a platform. The company said the digital coin Link will be given as rewards to users of its services and could be traded with other cryptocurrencies at its crypto exchange, Bitbox. The coin is not available for users in Japan and the United States for regulatory reasons, it said. In Japan, the company said Link Point will be used instead of Link, and a Link Point cannot be traded or exchanged before Line gets official regulatory authorisation, and can only be used with Line Points at this time. Line said Link digital coins would be used as payments or rewards within its blockchain-based app services. Types of Link usage described by the company include content, commerce, social (in-app and peer-to-peer), gaming, and exchange payments. "Over the last seven years, Line was able to grow into a global service because of our users, and now with Link, we wanted to build a user-friendly reward system that gives back to our users," said Line CEO Takeshi Idezawa. "With Link, we would like to continue developing as a user participation-based platform, one that rewards and shares added value through the introduction of easy-to-use apps for people's daily lives." | Why have I never heard of any Japanese cryptocurrency that would be used worldwide or at least in America? I think they'll never be able to develop it so much that people will start talking about the new cryptocurrency. I also want to add that people most often turn to the two famous cryptocurrencies that first appeared on the market. And yet, now everyone everywhere is switching to Elrond. There's unlikely to be a place for this Japanese crypt in this blockchain. I'm currently transferring projects to Elrond using bhero.com. That's why I know what I'm talking about. This Japanese company will have to go a long way to make itself known. Last edited by salihajeff on 2022-06-08 16:21:40 | |

| The classic japanese Cryptocurrency is Monacoin. Maybe some day it will rise like Bitcoin or Doge but probably not since it uses old mining algo. This one seems like a cashgrab to get funding? In this economy startups will have it harder to get investor money so an be easy way to just bring a copy & paste crypto token to make a lot of funds. Not sure there really is some good value here or really a purpose for the token. | |

| Has this ever come to pass? Lots of people in Taiwan use LINE app. I haven't heard of any crypto used in Taiwan or via the LINE app. | |
