| I realize there`s a number of various types of reality TV programmes. Which ones do u prefer? I am mainly writing this as i am excited about the new season of Naked & Afraid XL, i love it but wont watch it until the season is complete so i can binge watch over a few days. Theres no way i could wait every week. I`m gonna write a bit about Naked & Afraid VS Naked & Afraid XL then list my fav types of show at the end, u can skip this and goto list at bottom if u prefer before sharing your fav Reality TV Programmes. Naked & Afraid is ok but nowhere near as good. I cant really understand why those people wish to participate (tho i`m glad they do). Apart from a savvy few, the show is cringeworthy to watch, as mostly they eat a handful of calories over 21 days due to failed hunting or food finding. Not only are they starving but shivering at night with their poorly built shelters; sometimes having to fend off wild animals lol. What makes the show amusing is that these people claim to be survivalists or wilderness experts tho seems they havent watched past episodes. I`m shouting at the TV that ash can be used to keep ants away, i know because some of the better contestants have used this method before in past episodes, yet the majority of these contestants dont know. Towards the end of the challenge these people are mentally drained and physically weak then are forced to traverse 6-7 miles of harsh landscape in their weakened state to be extracted home. It`s all so amusing to watch. Despite all that, the regular Naked and afraid is low on my list compared to other shows.The XL version is much better as by then the have weeded out the better survivalists forcing them to survive 40 days! Hilariousness ensues  1. MTV`s The Challenge (this I save till season is complete for binge) 2.Naked & Afraid XL 3. Survivor US & Survivor AU . 4. Big Brother US & Big Brother Canada 4. | Was watching some OK Portugal and Frankie on the Road on youtube. Its just british couples who bought cheap farms (especially the 2nd) in portugal and living there offgrid, more or less. I find this nicer than most reality tv shows now. I am pretty much interested in survival aspects but i find many of these tv shows too overproduced now,like when they keep repeating what just happened 3 times every 5 minutes,Also Kurt Caz is excellent for travel vids, tho I dont know all you listed I will check them out. | |

| Yeh Reality TV covers a wide variety of subjects. The living off grid and Travel ones are interesting to watch. Theres tons of other types i watch also. It`s such a broad spectrum  As you enjoy travel and scenery The Amazing Race may well appeal to you as the contestants travel to various countries. It`s fun to see them interact with the culture and usually have to to compete in cultural challenges which unique to the country or place they visit The last couple to arrive are those who struggle with the challenges thus are eliminated .We at home get to see these amazing places+ the winner wins 1 million dollars! Personally I like the ones were huge money is at stake, Survivor US winner gets 1 million, Big Brother US gets 500k, MTV`s The Challenge winner gets 1 million. Naked afraid XL people get nothing just the aspect of completing the 40 days. It is also worth pointing out that Big Brother US & Canada are unique in comparison to other countries version of Big Brother as it is more competitive & strategic. Each week they all participate to become Head of household in a challenge of skill or endurance they then earn the power to nominate people from the house for eviction, those that are nominated get to compete to save themselve, and get voted out by the fellow contestants, whereas the europe, Uk, Austalian version dont have any of this. They are left to their own devices to cause drama amongst themselves and then are nominated for eviction by the viewers at home. I dont watch these versions tho am not judging if some do  American ninja warrior is also very skill based and the winner can win 1 million dollars. | @sherb Definitley huge money at stake with the gold hunters, i seen a few episodes here and there. It really interesting to watch, I`m hoping for some TV packs to watch from season 1 onwards, in fact i just added some random seasons to my downloads after reading your list. Jade Fever also sounds interesting i missed that one, i`m gonna try and get it. Outback Opal Hunter i saved them all, must have watched 3 seasons over the course of one week. | |

For the most part it is true there is alot of trashy reality TV programmes, but as reality tv is such a broad spectrum it would be better to list the types of shows or specific titles that you you dont like. i.e American Ninja warrior is more in the athletic sports department. The Various Gold Hunters, Trucker, fishing, car restoration are more so documentary. Can u be more specific? I.e i stopped watching The Flash years ago cause i felt that was far too teen soapy. Once i saw the Musical episode where Barry Allen and Supergirl were singing and dancing like a teen musical i decided to call it quits. | |

| Shows that put non actors in artifical environments and situations, often designed to create conflict and/or humiliate them and/or stress them. Things like Big Brother, I'm a Celebrity, Love Island, etc etc. They have zero to do with "reality". To a lesser extent, shows that follow peoples lives, such as (so called) celebrities, ie Kardasians, or spoit rich kids (Made in Chelsea). They bare almost no resemblance to most peoples "reality". I also dislike talent shows & competitions, though I'm not sure they really count as Reality TV. The Flash is most definitely not reality TV, its science fiction / fantasy. | Yep better to specific as its a broad genre, i just used The Flash as an example of being specific, i`m sure the episodes got better after that one lol. I do understand your points of view, shows like Survivor, they like to use the motto "Outwit, Outlast, Outplay" which is usually an excuse for people to lie and deceive which is terrible really! Big Brother also. These could be classed as gameshows but the game lasts a very long time, mental tuffness is defintly a factor. I can say if someone was to offer me $100,000 or any amount, to go onto a show like survivor or Big Brother i would flat out refuse, theres no way in heck i would ever want to be on any reality tv programme, exactly for those reason you stated. I find it amusing that people wish to partake in such shows, these arent actors that go home after a long day on set.These are your irregular greedy fame seeking average wannabes wishing to challenge themselves and win some money. There are some interesting personalities and characters that come onto these shows many of which we would never meet in real life, so its nice to see. Let us take a celebrity actor and you get to meet them in real life, a few may be shocked to realize that they nothing like thier favorite character and leave disappointed. | I know of it tho cant say i`ve ever seen an episode, i wouldnt mind giving it a go looks interesting. Another redneck type show i remember watching was called "Lizard Lick Towing" quite got into that; watched alot of seasons tho there was some controversy that is was partly scripted or reanactments of jobs that supposedly happened. None the less was very entertaining haha.  | |

| Some of them i could be interested in like lobster hunters but they have a tendency to edit those shows with two second camera cutaways. I cant watch that kind of content. To each his own but for me the show has been ruined by their editing process. A true shame. | |

| Yes usually every Reality Show is pretty much Scripted. I seen a show about making "Deadliest Catch" & they said that 90% of what happens On DC is Scripted except for the Injuries & Catching Big Azz Crabs. | Anyone remember a show called "Mystery Diners"? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2147632 It was very popular and fun! It was about this troubleshooter that would go to different restaurants/diners plant numerous cameras and microphones to catch the reasons why the foodery was doing poorly, Usually it was a employee being rude, stealing etc but had some fun twists. It had 12 seasons over 5 years! This show also got caught in scandal when it was discovered that some were real but alot were re-enactments using actors..lol Non the less it was very entertaining, Even tho i told my Dad it is fake he always asks me if there any new episodes he can watch.
