| With all the average movies appearing lately, I decided to go back and watch old favorites, here they are. The Postman Waterworld I-Robot Johnny Mnemonic Jumper Ultraviolet Nightwatch Daywatch Tekken Pitch Black Salute of the Jugger Dune (2021) Stargate Ghost In The Shell Bicentennial Man Blade Runner Chronicles of Riddick Dark City City of Lost Children Le Dernier Combat Enemy Mine (This is one of my favorites, great sci-fi, shame it isn't well known) The Fifth Element Ghost Of Mars Hellboy The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy ( a regular one I watch LMAO) Finch Space Sweepers Guardians of the Galaxy (Good movie , the follow up was very average) Attack The Block ( this cracked me up) A.I Artificial Intelligence The Worlds End (Another that is a crack up) The Host Snowpiercer District 9 Under The Skin Jupiter Ascending Blade Runner 2049 Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Alita Battle Angel Mortal Legends (Amazing series of books, the movie was a visual feast) Sucker Punch Iron Sky The Adventures Of Adele Blanc Sec These are just some that I watch regularly, not all are hard core science fiction , but definitely entertaining. I've missed quite a few. What are your favorites ? Last edited by BluudNut on 2022-03-30 01:16:13 | |

| That is quite an extensive and mixed list BluudNut :) And I'm surprised Matrix hasn't been mentioned yet I'm leaving mine here with a beep (it's like a tweet but even shorter :)) for each on what makes them a great watch. Feel free to adopt a similar approach to help people decide if they want to look it up. Some of my favorites that come to mind: The Matrix ----- for the philosophical aspects and cool fights Blade Runner (both) ----- the setting, atmosphere and open ending Alien (the whole saga including Prometheus) ----- the world, the cosmic horror Arrival --- original plot Donnie Darko ----- the drama, the scifi aspect is only near the end but still very thought provoking, worth youtubing about it Dune ---- the world A.I Artificial Intelligence ---- the story and drama District 9 ----- everything about it, cool aliens, bad ass action, social critique X-Men (the whole series of movies) ----- the world, the action and the social commentary Inception ----- mind bender Back To The Future (series) ---- 80s at its finest, funny and original Robocop (the first one) ---- satirical social commentary Children of Men ---- good drama and thriller Ex Machina ---- great plot... and beautiful cinematography ;) Predator ---- manly badassery (if it bleeds we can kill it) Terminator (1 & 2) ---- more manly badassery Other favorites but less well known or not mentioned here: Source Code ----- mind bender Annihilation ----- original and alien, cosmic horror Demolition Man ---- social critique Existenz ----- mind bender Predestination ----- mind bender Coherence ----- mind bender Planet of the Apes (the old original series from the 60s, haven't seen the new ones yet) ----- classic, original, social commentary Contact ----- great story and plot Last edited by tyler99 on 2022-04-06 23:52:55 | |

| Ok totally agree with the whole Alien Saga , totally obsessed with Alien Covenant and Prometheus and I will add all the apocalyptic movies that came afterwards, like : Contagion , the day after tomorrow .. you know that kind of movies , even some of the recent ones .. but my favourite remainss Alien the original one. nothing compares to that one. which is absolutely terrifying the first time you watch it .... Which describes the unknown territory, the new conquer : Space ! And No one can hear you scream out there right ? And the billionaires are all aware of that ... | |

| I'll also add The Abyss to my list, if there's any film that needs a Blu-Ray release then this is it. | |

| If you are a Sci-Fi Fan & do not Love Alien or Predator Movies then you are not a Sci-Fi Fan. They need to work on a Predator/Alien TV Series. That would be Awesome. Last edited by ToeCutter on 2022-06-25 07:58:54 | |

| Yes The Abyss is a movie that stands on it's own & is very original because there is nothing as good as it is. Everything was so well done on the Movie. Sometimes you don't need all the Special CGI effects & they proved it with this movie. The Abyss is a movie you can watch a few times a year. It's a Classic. Now I need to go watch it cause I haven't seen it in probably 10 years. Last edited by ToeCutter on 2022-07-13 19:07:29 | |

| All these are good movies but you can't beat a classic like Forbidden Planet 1956 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049223/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Last edited by hayzee56 on 2023-01-24 12:29:18 | |

| 1959 ? The movie release date depends from country to country. First US release dated March 23 1956, in my country, Italy, FP was a "Christmas Movie", December 21 1956. Anyway Forbidden Planet was a Classic and a Masterpice and seminal movie too, Oscar nomination for Special Effects, the first movie with electronic sounds ONLY, the first entry in Leslie Nielsen's career and a big hit for Anne Francis, 25 at the time. And Robby, the father of ALL robots in movies and toys too. 50s and Cold War era was good for the Sci-Fi flicks, some titles : The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) the definitive Sci-Fi flick !!! When Worlds Collide (1951) The Thing from Another World (1951) WOW !!! The War of the Worlds (1953) SUPER !! It Came from Outer Space (1953) Them! (1954) Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) Tarantula (1955) It Conquered the World (1956) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) another seminal movie Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957) The Monolith Monsters (1957) one of my fav The Giant Claw (1957) Not of This Earth (1957) The Blob (1958) Wow...super scary ! I could name 20 other titles, the 50s were Golden Age for Sci-Fi ! | |
