What upload format should I use?

Hi,

I’d like some guidance from the community. I upload from the BBC. Iplayer now offers 1080p streams at 2600kbps and 720p streams at 5000kbps.

Thus for the new season of Peaky Blinders, which I just uploaded, the 720p version is 2.2gb and the 1080p version is 1.1gb.

It’s a hassle to upload both types; I’d prefer to do one or the other.

Any advice for me?

Well the choice is always yours.
However, on paper, the 'quality' of the 720p looks much better.
Despite its smaller resolution, it has a much better video bit rate, and identical audio.

Thank you, that's helpful. I prefer to upload the best quality - and while that can be an abstract judgement - it looks like 720p is the best choice.

Gotta agree with battlestar:_trusted_uploader::_sitefriend::_male::_sitelover::_junkie: ...plus the 720p has a variable framerate, 25frs-90fps, so it will have more detail in the action/moving scenes than the 1080p (constant 50fps)

Thank you for that, B4ND1T69, it’s appreciated. I simply use automated tools to grab stuff from Iplayer (the very good Get Iplayer Automator primarily) – something any amateur could do – and I lack the tech experience you and battlestar have. I’m grateful. I’ll stick with the 720p; it seems the much better option.
