| Ok so in the grand scheme of things its not really a big deal .. but it kind of annyoys me so if anyone has a 'work around' or knows which specific links to look for be super appreciated Why do all tv shows these days come with subtitles / captions (I miss HDTV rips that didnt) .. are there any rips to look for that come without, as I said it just annoys me or any software other than VLC (that seems to do the trick on some but not all) that removes them??? Thanks most kindly in advance | |

| all the subs are softcoded, you can just turn them off at the start of the show, many including myself loves having subs, it complete the viewing experience for me, but its person specific. | |

| Well 90% of the time, depends on who's the encoder.😋😋😋 Last edited by TimmyBoy91 on 2022-02-21 17:10:49 | |

| In VLC there is an option which Sub to use by default. So if you have set english it will always show the english subs. To change this go in your VLC settings (maybe extend them too) and then just turn subtitles off. | |

| Subtitles are normally a separate stream (like Video & Audio) and any player worth having will allow you to turn them off. For that matter, if properly encoded, they will be turned off by default anyway, except for the sometimes needed forced English subs. | |

| When i do my encodes i have the subtitles as separate files (just a personal preference) so its easy for those that don't want them to just delete the .srt files. | |

| You always have the option to disable whether keep them on as they were forced by the encoder or tv show/movie has the .srt it will disable/enable both ways, enlarge the images below to locate the given option to disable/enable under VLC & K-Lite Media Play, furthermore, sometimes, the subs still work even you disable them, which means the subs hardcoded by the encoder, but that's not common nowadays! VCL & K-Lite Codec Settings: Have a nice day! | |

| DOH! I didn't know the subs could be manually turned off ... I thought it was specific to the download as the ones with subs in the past were automatically turned off All sorted... much thanks to the collective | |
