| Michael K. Williams, who memorably portrayed Omar Little in “The Wire” and Chalky White in “Boardwalk Empire,” has died at age 54. His breakthrough role in 'The Wire' was legendary as the series exposed the two tier justice of the American legal system and the way both narcotics and the 'war on drugs' have been implemented to cripple already marginalized communities. | Unfortunately the despair of poverty also leads to addiction as we see with the current opioid crisis and the crack epidemic in the 1980's. A shame though that talented people that make it out of poverty and become successful often succumb to these deadly attempts to numb a deeper existential pain. | |
