I know they highly private and restricted but trust me I am highly interested to learn about this thing. if you can not share the process, at least give me some suggestions that how can I learn that. if you feel uncomfortable sharing here then please message me regarding this issue. hope this is the right place where I am looking for help. thanks all. | Other than screen or HDMI [Video Output] recording, you cant. For pretty obvious reasons, the process of direct ripping is secret. :) Last edited by battlestar on 2020-12-01 18:07:27 | |

| The easiest way (although admittedly not the most convenient or quick) of ripping content from sources like Netflix is to just use a USB HDMI input stick. You can get these online for as little as $20. Read the reviews to make sure you get a good one. They are widely used for recording gameplay for Twitch or YouTube so that's what you will see them advertised for. Basically all you do is plug it into your computer through USB, then take a box you want to record content from (let's say a Chromecast with Netflix) and plug the HDMI output into that USB stick. So instead of plugging it into a TV you're plugging it into the stick and the stick feeds it to your PC. You can then capture whatever it would normally show on your TV through media software like VLC. You view what the output is and choose when to start and stop recording. If you need to crop parts off after you can do this in MKVToolNix easily. Then transcode it or you end up with a large file, I recommend transcoding to x265. Handbrake is the easiest tool for this. Obviously with this method whatever you want to download has to be playing all the way through so like I said it's not quick or convenient (unless you wanted to watch it anyway) but it works and doesn't require shady software and there is no risk of your Netflix account being banned since they have no way of knowing you are doing this. All they can see is you are watching something. They have no way of knowing where your HDMI is plugged in... With some services it's super easy, e.g. with BBC iPlayer you can just use youtube-dl but you only get 720p this way. The methods used by the "scene" are most certainly more sophisticated closely guarded secrets. | |

| Yes you can make that method work but there is something you missed out, all capture devices do not have the licence info included to crack the HDCP encryption, but there is way around this by using a HDMI splitter as a lot of these do have the encryption key. If you want to read more this article deals in depth https://www.howtogeek.com/208917/htg-explains-how-hdcp-breaks-your-hdtv-and-how-to-fix-it/ I have never managed very high quality recording by this method but that might be due to the hardware involved. | |

| Well, that sucks. There is content that I would like to obtain from Disney+, HBO Max, and Amazon Prime that no one else has ripped so far (and for some of the stuff that has been ripped, the links are all dead). I've tried ripping it myself with widevine-l3-decryptor, but the result always comes out looking like crap since these services limit the quality of their Widevine L3 streams to the point where they look terrible (for example: Disney+ cripples the L3 streams of SD (480p) content to 512x288/384p unless there's surround sound). As for recording, that's not an option for me because I don't want the rating banners and end credit interruptions ruining my capture, and when I tried to screen record these services using OBS the result looked just as bad as widevine-l3-decryptor. If only some Scene group member would be willing to share their secret methods with me so that I could capture such content myself. Also, if the content that I wanted to rip from the streaming services was already available on DVD, I wouldn't even be reading these threads. Last edited by RetroDCOMFan on 2021-04-10 04:22:00 | |

| How do i make an highquality rip like the 999MB.HQ.x265.10bit-GalaxyRG rips? I do know how to rip and i normaly use command-line and ffmpeg in linux, i have tried alot of different options but the results isn't as good as the 999MB.HQ.x265.10bit-GalaxyRG rips. What command-line did @GalaxyRG use for the classics 999MB.HQ.x265.10bit-GalaxyRG even if it may differ from time to time i would appreciate at least an example. I have begun to archive my Bluray into HQ 720p but i'm not fully pleased with the quality i achived so far. PS. i would have liked to start a new thread but i wasn't able to as an unranked user. | |

| Don't try to copy anyone else, just tinker around and eventually you'll hit the nail on the head, just be yourself and not jump on the bandwagon | |

| If I have the physical disc or a disc image I'll remove the drm with dvdfab then depending on what I'm wanting to do I'll either edit it with ripbot another app | |
