Okay, I've been trying to quickly send up my first torrent here, but all I'm getting is this:

Parser Error: Error Opening torrent.

I'm using Vuze v5.7.6.0 to create the torrent on a Windows 10 PC.  I've made it in at least half a dozen ways so far all with that error when I send up the torrent here.

I've used the "Add Multi-Tracker Options" in Vuze, and added the fifteen trackers in the Trackers post (Valid as at 26 Feb)

The first announce tracker was coppersurfers, then I added it and the other fourteen into a group that Vuze lets you use.  I thought maybe the announce tracker which is included twice (once as the announce, and then also in the list) might be forcing me over the 15 tracker limit (IE 16 but with coppersurfers there twice) so I  pruned off the last three or four, but am getting the same error.

I've also tried it with just ONE tracker (as the example post for Vuze describes) and that didn't work either.

It might be that I've used the "Create Container" option because while I have a directory with the files I want to upload in it, it also contains other files that are seeding at other sites, and don't want to send the whole directory up.

I suppose I should do some screenshots.

Step 1 below:  This is using the Multi-Tracker info - BUT I've also done this using just the one as well.

Image error

Step 2 below: Here's the multi-tracker group I made up.  I've tried this both WITH and WITHOUT the blank lines in between the trackers

Image error

Step 3 below: Then I make up the container for the files - the name of the directory where they live - but of course this includes other files that I don't want to include in this torrent

Image error

Step 4 below: Here's where I select the files that need to be included in the torrent

Image error

Step 5 below: Here's the structure of the torrent (in theory at least)

Step 6 below: The finishing stage

I haven't checked the "Open for Seeding" option this time (I've tried it both ways anyway) as having to download the torrent and start seeding is second nature to me and not a big burden - as I say I've tried it both ways, too.

The only thing I haven't tried is to make up a single directory by copying only the files I want to include and then specifying one directory to add the entre contents of because I'm already seeding this at other sites, and it sort of defeats the purpose of having the same files being sent up to multiple trackers and will use up my seed space (currently a 2 TB drive, with only 400 Gigs remaining)

I suppose I should try that, but I was going to go to bed, but thought I'd quickly send up a torrent I've already got running as a quick test, but of course it's taken a few hours now, and so I'm writing this message in desperation!

I'll try something else tomorrow, but hopefully there may be a reply to this which will be of extreme benefit!

I'm not very familiar with Vuze but everything look right except you do need to tick the "Open the torrent for seeding" box, which I know you also tried.
If all else fails, I would definitely try copying the files to a separate folder rather than creating a container with your client, but I'm only guessing since I don't use Vuze.
Maybe someone who knows the client will see your post and give you a better answer.
Good luck

FYI, you dont need 15 trackers, 5 or 6 is more than enough.

Yes, interesting what Vuze must be doing that this site doesn't like.

For others on this thread the "Open Torrent for Seeding" isn't going to be a problem, because it's a functionality thing - and besides, the way I'm making torrents sometimes I have to jig the directory I'm using to seed out of - eg for some single episodes when I'm capping something (let's say Four Corners every Monday) I send up the file alone, but in the seeding directory it lives in a FourCorners subdirectory - otherwise I'm going to have far too many items in my _Seeding directory.  So if there's a one-off programme, I'm happy for it to live in K:_Seeding and when I download the torrent I point it there.  But with my weekly caps the single file lives in k:_SeedingFourCorners, and so when I start seeding the torrent I have to point it there.

If I start seeding automatically this option won't exist, and not only will the torent site get confused but also Vuze, and also a goodly proportion of readers on this thread!

Thinking about this overnight, I will need to simply make a temporary directory where I make up the torrent from and include the entire contents, and then when I download the torrent in order to start seeding I can point Vuze to the original  directory and delete the temp files. And thinking aloud - in order to prevent possible problems with the parent directory name clashing I suppose I can make the temp directory over on another device so that it looks identical as that device name disappears when it comes to downloading and seeding.

Thanks for your Vuze setup efforts, SweetSkunk.  Coincidentally I use the moniker "Bad Skunk" (a play on words for Mad Monk - the nickname of a former Australian Prime Minister) when I make political posts at one of my Facebook pages!

I've just got to do my weekly Mastermind Australia cap, and I'll send up Deep Water here. (I hope)

That sounds a bit over-complicated,   but can see your intent..

A similar approach would be:

  • TEMP relocate the files u don't wanna include
  • create .torrent in vuze
  • move back the relocated files

Once .torrent is created, the relocated files should not interfere at all,  with the files being shared on TGx
    Hope u get what i mean B)

I've used that technique of quickly booting the files out of the directory and making up a torrent with the whole directory contents when using qBitTorrent to make torrents because unlike Vuze, you can either do a single file or all files in a directory and all the time I'm doing it I hope no-one else jumps on to the torrent from another site where it's seeding :-)

Anyway, I finally got the time to get back to the PC and send it up.  https://torrentgalaxy.to/torrent/13958135/Deep-Water--2016-

    Successfully!

Yep, the way Vuze makes up its file container isn't something TGx likes.  But at least Vuze still works here.   ONE site I'm a member of  won't even TALK to Vuze (SSL error) - both downloads AND uploads.  To solve that problem I setup qBitTorrent and started to move all the torrents I had seeding over to it, I transferred about sixty or seventy but then realised I didn't like qBitTorrent as much as Vuze (it hasn't got a few key functions of Vuze which I've been using for some time).  So I got really bold and now have qBitTorrent and Vuze running  simultaneously, 400-odd torrents seeding out of Vuze, and about 30 from qBitTorrent!  This works fine believe it or not because seeding only Open()s the files in shared read mode.

As long as you only download a torrent with ONE client at a time :-)

Thanks all, and especially Sweet Skunk.  I think I'd better send up the "Real Story" documentary for the sake of completeness for anyone who gets into this (it was a brilliant show although certainly not everyone's cup of tea.

I'm going to have to delete the source for those screenshots in the OP now I come to think of it, as they're a bit too public to leave online for too long.

Here's to more successful uploads to Torrent Galaxy.  If I should suddenly disappear it'll mean that the Australoian Federal Court adds TGx to the list of banned sites in Australia, and will probably force me into getting my VPN I've been putting off for a number of years now.

On sending up my second torrent "Deep Water - The REAL Story" - which was a documentary, so really didn't belong in the docudrama 4 part "Deep Water" miniseries - a big clue was given as to why TGx doesn't like the "Container" option from Vuze.  The NAME of the torrent produced by the site is the same as the name of the directory the files live in.  So my four part miniseries torrent ended up being called just "Deep Water (2016)" when I downloaded it.

I thought I'd leave the Doco file in the same directory for its upload, and when I downloaded the torrent it too was named "Deep Water (2016)" (IE the same)  I had to add "the real story" into the torrent name when I downloaded the torrent and started to seed it.

So clearly the software here regards the name of the origin directory as quite significant, but the way Vuze makes up the torrents doesn't place it in the same spot TGx is expecting.

I also figured out the bbcode to include photos in the description at the correct size to display on the site [ Img width=480 ] [ /img ].  When I included the photo in the first upload it came up in the native size which just happened to be 1920x1080 so I just removed that line entirely.

Is it permissable to add photos into the descriptions here?  I do it on a couple of sites - another one has a "no pictures in description" policy and another just isn't capable of doing it in the first place...

That's been a very instructive start.  Now let's take a look at this rarer US stuff I've accumulated I was referring to earlier that I want to share around.  "100 Centre Street" is next.  (Yes, and even though it's smack dab in the middle of New York City, it IS spelt "Centre" and not "Center")

Yeah, I've virtually no sight in my left eye, but even I don't need em that big :-)

I just went and looked at my "100 Centre Street" files and I'm NOT happy with the lip synch at all, so I'm now running them through a batch processor to fix it... That's going to take forever, so I'll let it run overnight while I sleep.

In the meantime I'm going to send up some classic Australian drama - so much to choose from!

PS: Interesting to see how Deep Water was marketed to the rest of the world.  I don't evn think we've had a repeat here - but the government keeps cutting our public broadcast stations' budgets, so it'll get another run for sure.  Eventually!

Adding covers, pictures and screenshots to your torrents is not only allowed but is also encouraged, as it adds visual appeal to the torrent and the site.
    Thanks.
