Thank you for your comment, much appreciated. - Same comment on every occasion. - So boring. - Are you a relative of the spanks-identity? |
How many different variations of "thank you" do you expect? Being grateful doesn't need to be exciting, it needs to be respectful (so no spanking) and that's exactly what Alice12345678 does. Thank you, Alice. |
@GUEST-1402 Imagine living in the comment section of a torrent site and your daily jollies come from rating comments as "boring." |
Arcanus sphaera nigra in Martis orbita detegitur. De Achille ad inquirendum mittitur. Post errones sex personas cantavit ex octo mensibus hiberna evigilare, Sphaera transmittit unum verbum in omni lingua Terrae nota - Deus. |
Well, someone has Google translate on their computer. Impressed! |
Thats a shitty translation of the plot. Automatic with no actual checking of the translation I ass-u-me. No wonder aliens are misunderstood |
If they're transmitting in every language ever known, why use Latin for title and plot description? A goof to make the movie look more sophisticated than it actually is? |
Is this worth watching? I download only 1080p+ so I dont want to waste my unlimited bandwidth, time, or burn ssd tbw downloading bs. |
It's Fi alright, but it certainly isn't Sci. Is it really too hard for script writers to document themselves? Earth isn't "in the centre of the Milky Way", nowhere near, even, but about 26,000 light-years (!) from the center. |
I was raised and educated in a Catholic school system into high school the use of latin, learning it has been extremely beneficial for me both personally and professionally, it is also the root language for other languages like French. There was a time when the world was mostly Christian, - this movie failed itself. |
There was a time when the colonised world was forcefully baptised to christianity. |
Okay, consensus is that this is not a great movie. But I've been a fan of Claudia Black since Farscape, so I'm gonna have to give it a shot. |
It's not Latin, the aliens are saying: "They've seen Earth and it's a piece of shit, a real number 2 or Dues." They're spelling is just off because there aliens. |
The word "god" yes, the name "God" no. Every culture has brought forth some deity. |
2764 There is no name "God" he is the creator, never has "god" being referred to as a name. Quit wanting to sound smart, it doesn't work if you're stupid. |
It's stupid to even think there is something like a god. And if everyone refers to the dude as "God" without article, that's what he's called, so that's the name they gave him. |
#2941 Sorry, most gods have individual names that differentiate them. If the Creator you mention is actually the God of the Bible, he goes by the exclusive name Yehovah that doesn't apply to any other god or idol from any other religion. Not trying to sound smart or stupid, just the facts. |
Guest-4161 If you are the same person as 2764, damn you are ignorant. |
Latin sounds like serious business, it's old, liturgical and universal.... Then, it turns out the movie's titles was probably in Portuguese |
Wanna bet that non of the cultures outside this planet know a single syllable in Latin? Not really universal then, is it? |
U sure? Please tell me about one (at least) of those cultures outside this planet... Or let me be funny my way |
I sing in a concert choir, and I can tell that Latin repertoire is maybe even more popular than English. It doesn't matter where you live around the globe, if you sing in a choir you probably had to sing Latin at some point. |
It does matter where you live. Latin is used in christian music. Not the whole world is christian, thank Deus! |
#3338's objection was about the improper use of the word "universal" to refer to things that apply only to this planet. The fact is that Latin was spread worldwide by the catholic church, and the word "Catholic" literally means "Universal" If that's not universal enough for you #1751 send your complains to Vatican City |
When I studied at university all the staff and students spoke Latin |
Okay, but I remain stuck with one question: when the transmission only starts when they approach the sphere, what was their mission in the first place? |
Since the blurb is in English and the transmitted "word" is in every language, shouldn't it be "God - The Dark Sphere"? I mean, we ain't speakin' Latin, right? |
The only movie coming out of the UK in recent times worth watching without a squirm, is Graphic Desires. They should have made a sequel of that instead. |
That's your opinion. Thank you for sharing that with us, but I'm sure you agree ours may be different. |
