Siamo nel 1816 durante l'ondata della restaurazione a seguito del Congresso di Vienna, con Napoleone a S. Elena e gli Austriaci a Milano. Il patrizio Fulvio Imbriani, ex giacobino ed ex ufficiale napoleonico liberato dal carcere ove era finito per la sua appartenenza ai Fratelli Sublimi, rientra in famiglia e lì, tra agi borghesi e ricordi domestici, decide di abbandonare la Carboneria.
We are in 1816 during the wave of restoration following the Congress of Vienna, with Napoleon in St. Helena and the Austrians in Milan. The patrician Fulvio Imbriani, a former Jacobin and former Napoleonic officer freed from prison where he ended up belonging to the Sublime Brothers, returns to the family and there, between bourgeois and domestic memories, he decides to abandon the Carboneria.
