Gardeners' World 2019 E18 (1280x720p HD, 50fps, soft Eng subs)
In a special programme, Monty and the team focus their attention on the loss of wildflower habitats in the UK and the part that gardeners can play in averting the resulting loss of wildlife.
Adam Frost is in Lincolnshire to find out how crucial meadows are to supporting our ecosystem, Arit Anderson visits Great Dixter in East Sussex to discover the surprising results of a recent wildlife survey carried out in the gardens there and Nick Bailey travels to Staffordshire to Trentham Gardens where they have been growing their own meadows to show visitors how and what they can grow in their own gardens for the benefit of wildlife. Monty meets HRH The Prince of Wales's head gardener at Highgrove, to find out about his passion for creating new meadows across the country and we meet an extraordinary man who has transformed a barren field into a thriving meadow by growing wildflowers in his own back garden. Frances Tophill goes to Hertfordshire to meet a pair of garden designers who have an ecological approach to design and Carol Klein is in her own garden in Devon, where she shows us how to choose plants for our own gardens, that could make a considerable contribution to help increase insect and bird populations.
