A global survey of Islamist strategies and tactics for missionary outreach (dawa) in the 21st century, this easy-to-read book analyses the process of Islamisation at an individual and societal level. Looking at politics, law, education and other spheres, in a wide range of countries, it reveals the underlying patterns, structures and organisation. It also examines the theological roots of dawa that inspire Islamists today. Suitable for any interested reader, but well referenced for students.

Islam is visibly permeating societies across the globe, even those where Muslims are few in number. Although individuals are converting to Islam, the impact of Islam in the early 21st century goes far beyond numbers; it is affecting the attitudes, behaviour, beliefs and even the vocabulary of non-Muslims as well as the structures of society. Why and how is this happening? In this easy-to-read book, Patrick Sookhdeo explains how Islam’s original missionary outreach strategy, dawa, is being applied today. Drawing on examples from multiple countries in every continent, he shows the effectiveness of the strategy and explains the Islamist theology and ideology that undergird it. He shows that the process of worldwide Islamisation can be halted, though time is short and wise action is needed urgently. Then Islamists, moderate Muslims and non-Muslims will be able to live together in peace, harmony and equality. “The more people who read this book the safer in the long-term our societies will be.” - Douglas Murray
