The husband of aviation engineer Kyle Pratt has just died in Berlin, and now she is flying back to New York with his coffin and their six-year-old daughter Julia. Three hours into the flight Kyle awakens to find that Julia is gone. It's a big double-decker plane, so the very concerned mother has a lot of territory to cover in order to find her daughter. She takes matters into her own hands as she fights to discern the truth.

Kyle Pratt è partita da Berlino con destinazione New York, a bordo di rivoluzionario aereo di linea che ha anche contribuito a progettare. La donna sta tornando negli States per celebrare il matrimonio del marito, scomparso di recente, e viaggia in compagnia di Julia, la figlia di sei anni. Dopo aver fatto un pisolino sul suo sedile, Kyle si risveglia e scopre che la bambina è sparita nel nulla. Oltretutto l'equipaggio e i passeggeri sostengono che viaggiasse da sola e tutti mettono in dubbio la sua versione, con gli stessi documenti di viaggio che sembrano effettivamente smentirla, al punto che lei stessa comincia a dubitare della sua sanità mentale.
