Overview: Read the first three books in this action-packed, epic superhero fantasy series. Follow Emil's journey and see why he is the last light in a world covered in darkness.
Genre: Fiction > Sci-Fi/Fantasy
1. The Dreamer and the Deceiver
For years, he ran. Now, he fights.
Emil is an Abnormal: a seemingly normal human being gifted with superhuman abilities.
From the second he first channeled the light energy his body produced, his life was no longer his own. Abnormals like him are forced to join the king's covert division named Legion to enforce his tyranny or be put down like beasts.
For years Emil has been able to evade the hand of the king and his capture by Legion, until on a seemingly normal night, Emil's village is ambushed and he is forced to helplessly watch as a fire-manipulating Abnormal destroy everything he loves.
Enraged and sick of running, Emil swears a path of revenge by single-handedly waging war against the king of the land.
2. All Things Eternal
The fight for freedom begins.
Not long after swearing a vow for revenge against his brother, Emil finds himself aligned with others who also wish to see the king's rule put to end. Omari, an Abnormal skilled in teleportation, his sister Skye, another Abnormal blessed with the ability of restoration and perception, and Marona, the quirky inventor who first saved his life in the forest near Nerai. Together, they join forces in an attempt to undermine the king's hold on the people of Everrmore, Omari and Skye's home.
The mission was simple. Rescue the falsely accused man who the Vanguard set to be publicly executed and rally the people against the king. But with the appearance of another Abnormal--a rogue separate from Legion, the city of Everrmore quickly plunges into chaos unlike ever before.
3. Ode to the King
Brother against brother. Abnormals clash.
Only days after the attack on Everrmore, Arius, the King of Coren, shows his face in a public address to the people, offering his support and requesting Omari and The Black Rebellions' surrender. Weary and demoralized, for the sake of his people, Omari considers Arius's request.
Rather than watch his comrade fall into the hands of his brother, Emil acts on his oath for revenge and strikes before Omari's resignation, putting everything on the line as he battles against his brother and his brother's elite fighting force, Legion.
Sage, Grim, and Luna, a trio of rogue Abnormals, join Emil's crusade but Emil and the others are not sure where their loyalties reside. While the rogue Abnormals' strengths are well received, nothing is as it seems. Both parties wish to see Arius's demise but only one can inherit the throne.
Emil is closer than ever to accomplishing his goal, but one question remains as he prepares for battle. If Arius falls, will there truly be peace or will the world only spin further into darkness?
