This book provides material for a one semester course on Transport Phenomena in which the common ground and the connections are thoroughly explored. The target audience is senior undergraduate and incoming graduate students in engineering and applied sciences, and, of course, their instructors. The emphasis of the presentation lies on principles, methods, and techniques, and not on the deep exploration of particular transport processes or systems. The development of the transport equations–global and local balance laws for mass, momentum, energy and entropy–is universally valid. However, the study of transport processes through solutions of the equations considers mostly simple materials, i.e., ideal gases and incompressible liquids, in simple geometries to allow for (mostly) analytical solutions. This approach emphasizes the general understanding of Transport Phenomena, visualizes the interplay between the different branches of Thermofluids, and thus will enhance the understanding of each field, as well as their interconnections. More technical detail such as advanced computational methods and extraction of property data from tables or databases are left for further studies in specialized courses or books. In other words, this book is intended, indeed, as an Introduction, serving as an access ramp into this exciting and wide field
