i used to love going out to buy an eagerly awaited album - it was exciting that something you waited years for was finally coming out - i would then get the bus home while reading the lyrics to the songs. the internet might be a wonderful invention but its stolen so much from us too , things would really be even better if the net never existed. |
Would it though? There are countless artists I would never even know about without the internet. Finding mp3s on Napster led directly to album purchases. Indie labels websites led from those artists to many others. I've helped musicians develop from childhood to pros on the other side of the globe. You aren't the world |
So fully agree. The Internet is what really killed The Radio Star. Spotify gets 17,000 new artists every single DAY, there is no reduction valve for quality and 99% of funds go to just the top 1^ of famous artists. My band had a minor hit I'd guess it could be called, 3+ million unique views, and total payout: $6,000.. |
You're and 80's kid if you understand -Hold on, let me press 'record' and 'play' on my cassette deck. |
90's kid here. I know EXACTLY what that means. lol. |
Arrrr!!! take what you can seed everything back, No Quarter to those who try and sink our ship... yo ho a pirates life 4 me until eternity.... |
I just finished the first episode and it was so good! I love that I'm a pirate! Appreciate the share, so thanks a bunch. Also a big thank you to the seeders. A/V = 10 |
The music industry was their own worst enemy. Most people didn't know about file sharing until the record companies made a big stink about it. |
thats the same as most things to be fair |

Music was already free in the sixties. All you needed was a tape recorder and a radio. You had to wait for the songs you wanted, but they were usually played every hour or so. The main annoyance was if a DJ spoke over the start or end of a song. |
I can remember doing that. I bought my first cassette player in 60's. Did reel to reel before that. DJ's are hard to shut up at the beginning of songs, and the end at times as well. Now I DJ on an internet radio station called Channel Zee |
Thank you to the poster! Bootleg copies and command line CD ripping flash back! |
