(7", EP, Unofficial Release, Red Sleeve) none
Judging by the track list on both "Live" 7 inches (and the fact that a lot of people are saying it's Dez), I'd guess this is the Classic July 4th 1981 Electric Banana Pittsburgh Show (with songs from both the early and late sets).

It's a shame that only snippets of this show are available on these because the whole concert is great. Recently the whole tape was recovered on ebay which contained both of the whole shows (about 73 minutes long, which is pretty huge considering pre '82 sources are generally less than 30 minutes long) and it is a treat to hear (you can find it on just about any torrent site).

It boasts a wealth of material from the then unreleased "Damaged" LP, but with Dez on vocals, and while I love Rollins as a vocalist, these songs are at their best when Dez sings them, particularly "Damaged II" (in my opinion, the definitive version and an absolute shame it isn't on either of these 7 inches), "Room 13", "Spray Paint The Walls", "Life Of Pain" (another definitive version), "Police Story", "Six Pack" and "Rise Above". It also features lots of material from their previous EPs and singles too, highlights including "American Waste", "Revenge" (with an unknown guest vocalist with a savage voice who fucks up the lyrics), "You Bet We've got something personal against you", "Clocked In", "Fix Me", "Wasted" and "Louie Louie" (this version is explosive!). Hopefully now that the full tape is circulating a double LP boot of the full show can be released. It's Pre-rollins flag at their best.

Sometimes, a little information is too much information. Everyone saying that "this version is without the sleeve" is kind of pointless because every version is without the sleeve. The fact that Mugger may or may not have made sleeves for a few copies does not mean that it should creep its way onto the release page, or have people thinking the generic sleeve copy they scored is incomplete in some way. Heck, from nearly all accounts, these didn't even come in a Licorice Pizza company sleeve...it may not even have come in a generic white sleeve...So yeah, homemade art, even homemade art made by a guy who worked at SST, doesn't mean we should be saying "missing rare picture sleeve."

Mine only has a generic sleeve, could someone provide a photo of the Pettibon sleeve if possible, I'd love to see it.

According to the liner notes on the bootleg version of this from 2006, there were 1000 copies pressed for the Licorice Records giveaway. After the promotional period ended, the record stores supposedly threw away the remaining copies. Granted, there's no source or credit for the information on the bootleg, so who knows if that's accurate or not.

Full text of the liner notes available on the entry for the bootleg release: Black Flag - Licorice Pizza And More...

The following was written by Abraham King, Discourage Records, Portland, OR:

"Officially a sleeveless release, the story going around is that Steve "Mugger" Corbin, who at the time was Black Flag's roadie and sound engineer, and also an SST employee, made up a small number of these 7" x 14" fold-up picture sleeves using Ray Pettibon art from Tripping Corpse #1."

700 copies given away as a "special gift" to customers who purchased a Black Flag ticket at Licorice Pizza record stores "in appreciation of all the support from Black Flag fans and Licorice Pizza Inc".

Recorded live at Target, San Francisco. These recordings are different than the ones found on Damaged.

℗1981 Unicorn Records, Inc
Printed in U.S.A.

Tracks A and B1 recorded live at Target Video in San Francisco, CA, 1981.
Track B2 recorded at Golden Age studios in Culver City, CA, Spring, 1981.

This edition has a xeroxed picture sleeve and includes a large insert with a Black Flag interview taken from Ripper Magazine #3 from 1980.

Liner Notes: "What is this thing? Well, it is a reissue of a very rare, very cool record, with an extra song tacked on to make it even better. SST Records and Unicorn Records jointly manufactured the THIRSTY AND MISERABLE/LIFE OF PAIN single as a tool to help promote the upcoming Damaged album. One thousand copies were made and given to Licorice Pizza, a record store chain in southern California. Licorice Pizza employees were told to give the records away to anyone who might be interested. After the promotion period was over, there were still quite a few copies of the record left, which the stores promptly THREW IN THE TRASH. Nobody really knows for sure how many were disposed of and how many exist today. The original had no picture sleeve or packaging of any kind. You can see what the original labels look like here. You'll notice that THIRSTY AND MISERABLE is credited to Medea, D. Cadena and Robo. I'm sure you'll know who D. Cadena and Robo are, but Medea might be a bit of a mystery. Medea is the last name of Greg Ginn's old girlfriend. Not sure exactly what her contribution to this song is. THIRSTY AND MISERABLE and LIFE OF PAIN were recorded LIVE in San Francisco at the Target Video studio. Some great video footage exists from this session, including a few more songs. The THIRSTY AND MISERABLE/LIFE OF PAIN single was the first Black Flag release with Henry Rollins on vocals. The bonus song is a never-released version of SPRAY PAINT with Dez Cadena on vocals. It was recorded in 1981 as part of the DAMAGED demos. An unreleased version of AMERICAN WASTE also exists from this session. The other songs from the DAMAGED demo later turned up on Everything Went Black."
