Legendary Swedish progressive band that released six albums between 1974 and 1992. The name "TRETTIOARIGA KRIGET" means Thirty Years' War. This actually refers to the first pan-European war in 1618-1648, in which Sweden, together with other Protestant states (England, the Netherlands, German Protestant states) plus France fought against the Austrian and Spanish Habbsburgs, Rome and the Catholic German principalities (Bavaria, etc.) .
The band's first album is high-quality heavy prog, and the vocalist's singing in Swedish, even though he is an Austrian by birth, reminded me of... King Diamond. If you don't believe me, listen to this album, which can be recommended for all fans of heavy prog.
The group's second album is considered the best. Here the music is no longer so “heavy”, more progressive. Overall, this work is rightly rated as one of the best in Swedish progressive rock of the second half of the 1970s. In some ways, it determined the development of Scandinavian prog in general. It is no coincidence that musicians ANGLAGARD and LANDBERK noted the influence of TRETTIOARIGA KRIGET on their work.
Unfortunately, starting from the third album, the group began to play simpler, commercial music, which was not more successful among listeners and the group soon disbanded. There was a short-term attempt to revive his activities in the early 90s, but it was not very successful.
