Plot:
The stable wormhole discovered by the Deep Space Nine crew is known to the Bajoran people as the Celestial Temple of their Prophets. Sisko, as discoverer of the wormhole and its inhabitants, is therefore the Emissary of Bajoran prophesy. The wormhole's other end is in the Gamma Quadrant, halfway around the galaxy from Bajor. That section of space is dominated by the malevolent Dominion. The Dominion is led by the Changelings, the race of shapeshifters to which Odo belongs. As of the beginning of the sixth season, Cardassia has joined the Dominion, and together they are waging war on the Federation and their Klingon allies. The war is quickly becoming the most costly war ever for the Federation, and the Deep Space Nine crew must fight to protect their way of life.

I have three versions of DS9 at my disposal, to use as source.
- Webrip
At 24 fps, it has silky smooth motion. All movements, specially SFX are very smooth. Picture quality is second best.
- NTSC DVD rips
This is at 29.97 fps (30). Resolution is a typical 720x480i. If ripped correctly and then de-interlaced using Ai, this version yields the best picture quality, but there is a flaw! Movements, at times are juddery. I believe the original footage was badly frame rate changed causing duplicate frames to creep in, at times.
- PAL DVD rips
These are at 25 fps. Resolution is 768x576i. Despite the higher resolution, picture had less detail. Like an over-filtering. However the movements are super smooth just as good as the webrips.
I have used whichever that yielded a better overall result for each season.
The tell-tale is the fps!

 | Everybody is welcome. I appreciate your cheers. As a long time "Trekkie" myself, I had to do something regarding DS9 & The Voyager, the only series, NOT available in anything better than DVD quality. This is the 21st century for heaven's sake! Movie studios, get your fingers out. But until the day they do, these should suffice. |

| Thank you VERY, VERY, VERY MUCH! Just please, avoid at all costs using the 25 fps source. I know that many people don't have a problem with it, but I belong in the group of people who can't stand the sped up audio. I only could appreciate the 4K upscale test after I converted the file to 24 fps. Converting one file is fine, but converting a whole season is something I'd rather avoid. By the way, still hoping you are planning to release these series in 4K. Even with the defects, the picture was very pleasing to watch. Anyway, again, thank you very much for the spectacular job that you are doing. You are the best. |

| This is my ffmpeg command for doing such a conversion, it can be scripted to do a whole season fairly easily and doesn't touch the video only the audio so is quick on an ssd: ffmpeg -r film -i "input-video.mkv" -c:v copy -af "asetrate=46080" -c:a aac -b:a 384k -ar 48000 -r film "output-video.mkv" |

| It's not an issue. If you compare a 24 fps episode against its specific 25 fps counterpart, you'll notice that the 25 fps file's running time is shorter in about a minute or two. Everything runs a bit faster as a result of the increased frame rate. Many people don't notice this difference but some of us do. |
