The flagship of the Japanese surf scene, Takeshi Terauchi, appeared on the musical horizon in the late 50s as part of the local rockabilly scene. In 1962, he founded his own team, “Blue Jeans,” which soon became one of the most popular in the country and the most prominent representative of “eleki” (it was under this name that instrumental music in the style of “The Ventures” entered Japan). Then Takeshi had other groups and solo work. And why didn’t he play! From non-trivial cover versions of Western hits to guitar adaptations of ancient Japanese motifs and masterpieces of classical music.
