Recently discovered some 35mm releases, even though 4K can be great, 35mm looks more "cinematic" in some cases. I got a version of T2 in 35mm and to me its even better looking then the 4K, the colors are better and you feel you are watching a real movie and not a shiny product. |
Thanks very much. This is a very impressive release. It looks excellent, save the film damage, which is minimal, and appropriate (and nice to see, from a nostalgic standpoint). But my question is: why? Why go through all the amazing effort to make something that's framed incorrectly? Was something changed about this movie that is being restored by going back to a release print? For what it's worth, if one is looking to crop to 1.85:1 it looks like you'd want to crop 266 lines from the top and 284 from the bottom. However, the effects look like they were protected for 1.66:1 (which Raimi also used as a secondary AR on Army of Darkness), so if you were looking to crop to that it would be 216 from the top and 232 from the bottom. |
Pretty cool stuff seeing the original uncropped shots! thanks |
