Thanks for this! Track 1 has the extremely noticeable overcompression-artifact-like sounds from the very first measure. Track 2, you can still hear them, right from the very beginning. I admit I didn't listen to more than 30 seconds. Track 3 - Is this the Karajan 1966 recording? It's enormously better. While it has a noticeable room tone "fuzz", that quickly fades from notice. It also seems extremely bright, though admittedly I'm using really crap headphones right now as I'm traveling, and it might be much more balanced with speakers with decent bass response. |
Sorry, I hadn't noticed the txt file at first. As I think about it, it's probably the 1966 Karajan I'd heard before, not the one from the 40s. If you have the original CD, I'm curious to know if the artifacts are on it too. It's *really* bizarre. |
