whats the difference between this encode and the other 1080p encode by davinci? explain pls. thanks. also, if u have access, could you upload better call saul season 6 at 1080p using the av1 codec i loved ur breaking bad av1 release bro. its hot such a great quality at such a low size. thanks!! |
This encode has a lower quality target, however it's very good for the size, in part because it uses a super-slow preset for higher efficiency. Only the most discerning viewers might notice compression artifacts with this version during actual playback. |
I have no plans to encode Better Call Saul S06. Its seasons 1-5 and Breaking Bad AV1 are WEB-DLs and so were encoded by Netflix. Season 6 does not have a WEB-DL, so you'll probably have to wait for someone to encode it from Blu-ray. |
@Maxoverpower Thanks for the astounding quality-to-size ratio on this one. Sadly I find the audio gets more and more out-of-sync as the file goes on. By hour 2, I'm having to adjust VLC to -450 ms to sync things up. Do get this too? Any ffmpeg command or similar to permanently fix the audio without re-encoding the video? |
Hi, thanks for calling out the issue. It's a very strange one. To fix it, you can download this proper audio track I uploaded (320 kbps nominal, Opus) and merge it with the original file using something like MKVToolNix - https://torrentgalaxy.to/torrent/15891270/Avatar-The-Way-Of-Water--2022--Audio-Fix--Ewillian9- |
oh ok. thanks for your hard work though nonetheless in making all this content available to us! |
Follow-up: I was able to get the sync about perfect throughout the movie by re-multiplexing with mkvmerge while stretching the audio track by 0.999958335 (3 hours / (3 hours + 450 ms), the approx lag I clocked during the final dialog) My guess is the video frame rate is off (e.g. 23.976024 FPS vs 23.976216 FPS) and so the audio got ahead of it. Hopefully this helps pinpoint the root cause and/or helps someone else fix the file without having to track down something less nicely compressed. |
