avatarThe plot of Star Wars was directly lifted from Akira Kurosawa's film "The Hidden Fortress" which Lucas has been very honest about, although it had many other influences as well. The Foundation series wasn't really one of those, except in a very general sense regarding the concept of the Galactic Empire. Dune had slightly more, a desert planet with large hostile creatures under the sand, but that's about it. Foundation itself was inspired by Edward Gibbon's "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire."
