![]() | @ Guest-4001 I'm not British, but have been a fan of Brit actors since Burton, Finney, Guinness, Harris, O'Toole, and Reed. ( the real heavy hitters ) My favorite Spall movie was "The Hangman" which i highly recommend. I started watching Brit cinema back in the 60's. America's best cinema was the 70's After that era, i really turned my attention to "Foreign cinema " Japanese, Italian and British . overall thee Brits are the better actors within the English language Aussies are good too, but the Brit's Theater system teaches the actors far better en mass than American actors. Proof you say? Watch Brit actors do American accents and then watch Americans attempt to do British ones. Yes, that's only one aspect of acting, but a very important one depending on the roles. Method acting can only take you but so far. |

![]() | "... the Brits really do this stuff way better than anyone else." - in the English speaking world perhaps. |
![]() | My apologies jimbob, you're absolutely right. I'm only speaking from my limited frame of reference. Sometimes I can't help but be an ego-driven Yank who still thinks in English only. I stand corrected. ![]() ![]() |
![]() | I'm Guest-4001: not trying to throw shade, just hilighting non-US (north American: not the same) talent. It's a bloody UK production anyway. Haven't seen it yet but intend to and will get back. Highly rated by others but it's pretty grim so I need a run up. |

![]() | its based on a true story "Benjamin Field" young man that murdered his older lovers |
![]() | I take it you are not British? There are some big hitters here from the British acting establishment - not least Tim Spall who has a reputation akin to Brian Cox over here (father of Rafe Spall who's been in several Hollywood productions) You might recognise Ben Bailey Smith who was in Andor for a minute. |
![]() | Timothy Spall was in Vanilla Sky. Anna Crilly is in Succession. Jon Bard is in Pennyworth. Jonathan Aris is in Sherlock and Vivarium. Jonathan Slinger was in a Knights Tale. A lot of these actors have been in good movies/tv shows. |
