Margot’s design had called for almost two miles of fencing. Two fences to form a funnel that led to a huge paddock. And off to the one side, accessed via a gate, a large circular paddock or lunging ring some eighty feet in diameter. It took the rebels over a week to construct and Nate called for a day of rest after. They were exhausted. As well as the paddocks, the Marine had gotten the troops to build a series of platforms a couple of feet off the ground. On top of these they raised their bivouacs, and in the center of each platform they created a fireplace out of stone and sod. The platforms did a great job in keeping them out of the damp.
