i like the actors and i like the concept only they decided to make this serie a perpetual bad detective where nothing really exiting happens. i have no idea where the story will go. now the find a hard disk for the 100th time. or some people get restless. it's just too boring for me. we all know by now things are hidden and people are kept stupid. but that's no theme for science fiction, it's just as well present day. too conceptual. and the worse thing is that it's a series. they may want to stall the story for a next season. i hope they cancel. i have given up on this one. watching a brownish colored boring dystopia is the same as sitting by the window watching the Flowers grow. |
It's based on a book series, so there's plenty more material. The TV series has been enjoyable so far, significantly different from the usual sci-fi stuff. |
I have a problem believing that the Hard Disk Drive, which would be about 120 years old (that's how long they've been in the Silo I believe), would still work. Not very likely. I also have a problem understanding how they could repair their computers. These are integrated circuits etc., but they don't even have microscopes. |
The "main" section of the Silo society certainly doesn't have microscopes, but Judicial has been hoarding tech. They may have far more up their sleeve, such as the image modifier for the big screen in the cafeteria. |
I can't get past that idea of "putting something in the water for people to forget their past" But, how long to get a new naive generation? 50 years non stop? 60? No other side effects? 'cause they need to procreate for that to work, and you only need one old person who knows the truth to explain everything back again. |
Also, they use computer screens but don't have a word for "video"? Nobody ever did an Ascii animation or something? Why are we lead to believe that the police force and sheriffs are known and respected by the society, but when she crosses the line, judicial swat teams appear ex machina with more training and equipment. |
Why did George the bff (who was only one door away from freedom) stop his escape plan at that precise moment to record himself, upload it into the drive, hide the drive in the hospital, leave a trail of breadcrumbs, etc. Instead of taking her with him and be done. Was he just giving judicial more time to kill him? |
@CaptDesko I think you're reading too much into it. It's a reasonably solid TV show, but it's still a work of fiction so it's always susceptible to nitpicking. The story line is thought provoking, but it's meant to be entertainment first and foremost. I'm glad that this show is better that the usual sci-fi drivel. |
Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the show and eagerly expect every thursday night for my weekly Silo fix. I also found the books in PDF and will try to get some time to read them as soon as I can. |
