This unique sounding group was originally formed as a quartet in Piedmont in 1971, led by guitarist Nuccio Nicosia. Soon the line-up was expanded to the size of a big band with the addition of four trumpeters and four trombonists. As a result, the musicians recorded the only album Una Favola Vera in 1973. The idea was to reproduce the synthesis of rock, jazz, classical, folk and pop music on texts dedicated to the social problems of Italian society. The result is an album that combines elements of Rock Progressivo Italiano with the aforementioned styles with a wide horn section. After releasing several singles in 1975 - 1976, the group broke up. Many former members of the group have remained in the music industry. Trombonist Johnny Capriuolo played with Arti e Mestieri on the 1985 album Children's Blues (with Pierluigi Mucciolo). Pierluigi "Gigi" Mucciolo has featured on albums by famous musicians such as Ivan Graziani and Lucio Battisti; the latter's 1974 album Anima latina also featured Pippo Colucci and Gianni Bogliano. Trumpeter Tolmino Mariannini has worked with various jazz and ethnic music ensembles in Florence. Drummer Luciano Ali has played extensively as a session musician and has been a member of the folk band Tendachent since the 2000s. Vocalist Nereo Villa is a psychoastrologist, but has extensive experience as a composer for other artists and retains an interest in music.
