'twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes - including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics - in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women's health care to the forefront. Really, what a horrible premise! |
Yeah because women's healthcare in the United States is in such great shape --- sarcasm people --- |
More "pink-washing": casting a woman in an originally male role. Did we learn nothing from the travesty of the "Ghostbusters" remake? |
They made this trash so no.. nothing was learned. |
Just finished the first episode and I'm hooked def going to binge this Rachel Weisz is killing it |
Thank you GalaxyTV I watched the original 1988 David Cronenberg and Jeremy irons movie some years ago. Even with several glasses of good scotch inside me, I thought that was one weird, boring-ass movie. I'm welcoming a modern remake that tries to do something fresh with a questionable basis. Thanks again GalaxyTV I'm up for watching this before I comment on it. If it's any good, I'll grab the 1080p too |
Will be keeping an eye out for your feedback... |
It really was a trippy af film, wasn't it? The Cronenberg name has long meant only one thing to me: no snacking while watching. |
Thank you to all the uploaders for this one, I got this plus the 1080p for different devices. A/V is excellent on all episodes, just as always The show, well, I was kind of unimpressed with episode one. I watched that all the way through, and have scanned the rest for a feel of A/V and I don't like surprises. The premise is a couple of obstetrics and gynaecology doctors (Elliot & Beverly - Rachel Weisz), struggling with their life and fertility issues (oh so appropriate for me right now), while trying to get funding for a clinic they want to get off the ground. First episode highlights some very real problems with systemic racism in women's healthcare, and women's healthcare in general (particularly) in the United States: that part just is not fiction (take a look at the 2017 ProPublica article "Nothing Protects Black Women From Dying in Pregnancy and Childbirth"). The thing is, I just wasn't "sold" on Weisz' two characters. Maybe that'll improve if I get more into it. It's definitely worth giving it a try though, the show may not be "great" (for me), but it's certainly "good". Thanks again to the uploaders for all your efforts |
Appreciate the insightful and honest review... I made it through to the end but still not sure what was really going on! At times I thought there was only one twin alive and the other just the alter ego/shadow self and/or delusion??!! Still trying to untangle the personal assistant character... |
Thanks karelynn Yeah I got through to the end too... eventually. I too was confused, disappointed, and felt a bit let down by the whole season. The show could have / should have been much better... so, er pretty close to the original movie experience then really |
i really don't fall for the one actor doing two roles. This seems silly and lazy directing. i have seen it in other movies and shows. just a trick to get their costs lower. why not hire twins? i really don't want to see the show now. |
And even Jeremy Irons didn't pull it off very well, under Cronenberg's direction too! This one hasn't finished downloading yet, so I have no idea what it's like, but I'm hesitant |
Tom Hardie in Legend. Armie Hammer pulled it off in The Social Network. Nic Cage in Adaptation. Christian Bale in Prestige. There's a few movies where this worked out well. |
