This movie is brilliant and needs way more love than it's getting in the comments section. This should be your next watch! |
damn it!!! now got a new earworm just reading this post... damn tetris soundtrack..... wasnt expect this but guess will watch it anyways since its the origin story of one of the cheapest games you can invest in that lasts forever.... also good trivial knowledge to acquire for future trivial pursuit nights... |
Follow up:Its a pretty damn good movie!! Gives you the real feels of the times when USSR was breaking up etc.but the soundtrack really tied the movie together obviously with the classic tetris tracks.Overall this movie needs more hype!! Just be glad Nintendo got the rights & the world is able to play this masterpiece! |
It could be worse A lot worse We have still got Walk Like an Egyptian playing in our collective heads since watching 'Mummies' the other day |
As featured in this movie we still have an old Soviet Union-era Elecktronika 60 computer out in the garage Won't even run Windows |
Why do they always wait until you through stuff in the garbage before it is worth megabucks For example, an Apple 1 or 2 computer will fetch you half a million bucks (more if you still have the box ) But how many folks held on to them |
And why they are always telling us to get rid of VCRs and fax machines and why we will be holding on to ours |
How many folks could afford to buy an Apple©™® 1 or 2 computer back in the day These things cost thousands of bucks like half a million bucks in today's money |
Just watched this movie. Excellent is all I can say! Thanks for the upload. |
Strange History Fact: One of Pajitnov's compatriots (also involved in the development of the game) was found dead alongside his wife and their young son in their Palo Alto, California, home. To this date this is one of America's strangest cases of murder. He supposedly murdered his wife and son, and soon after shot himself to death. Thanks for this, I will give the true crime series a go on your recommendation... |
I used to play LARP Tetris back in college... We'd go up the roof and jump down the alley in different body positions one after the other until the pile collapsed, and then the fun began anew! It was so awesome, not many got seriously hurt or killed. |
So not that Alexey Pajitnov invented it. But an Anglo-American "discovered" it. Got it. |
FYI: Pajitnov is as white as white can be. Marketing, Sales and Promotion is a real thing, many artists only reached the world stage after being "discovered", Pajitnov's problem was not prejudice, but the darn Iron Curtain. Do you really need to watch every interaction in the world through thick racial lenses? |
PSA: I accidentally clicked upvote on this comment while meaning to downvote. Sorry! |
1448 The OP explicitly said "Anglo" What's the intent behind that? (Don't be naive as I'm not) It seems like the whiteness of the salesman was the problem in question, so, would it be less terrible if he was from a minority group? Anyway I'm not a fan of hyphenating any group, all you guys from USA are "American" to me |
And about the filmmakers choices... Haven't you seen "The King's Speech" It was all much more about the obscure speech therapist than the actual king himself. It's like if the king got almost a support role in a movie titled after him... and so what? It was an excellent Oscar worthy film. |
Dunno 'The 'KIng's Speech' is a darned good movie (8.0/689K over in IMDB ) even though it is a Brit movie |
Great-great-Grandma was one of King George's staff They used to call him 'stuttering Georgie' but not to his face |
Apparently this was filmed in Scotchland Who could tell Lked like the old Soviet Union |
Fun factoid: 'Tetris' was filmed entirely in Scotchland, particularly in and around Glasgow and Aberdeen. |
It is rare that I watch a movie and can end it by saying "That was WAY better than I expected" yet here is another one. |
Anything with Taron Egerton has to be worth a shot after his starkly different, but comparatively excellent performances in "Rocketman" and "Black Bird"?? ... Update: Yes my prediction was spot on, and enjoyed discovering the link to the infamously corrupt Maxwell family. Definitely worth investing your time on this unexpected gem... |
