avatarThanks for uploading. This is an early and now out-of-print version of the current TTC course "Mastering the Fundamentals of Mathematics," the new version of which is taught by Prof. James A. Sellers. In my view, it is well worth watching both versions of the course and it's a shame this earlier one is no longer officially available to the general public. Both teachers are excellent. They cover much the same material but go about it in a slightly different way - for example, the very intuitive description by Prof. Murray H. Siegel of the base 10 system in this course, which isn't covered in detail in the newer course, is very helpful in terms of helping students step back and think about what, precisely, they are studying when they learn the basic arithmetic in question. Prof. Siegel also gives an excellent introduction to the subject in the early lectures where he brushes aside all sense of foreboding, anxiety and difficulty some students feel about this subject (something quite often instilled in them thanks to poor teaching practices in schools) - he makes it abundantly clear than anyone can gain a masterful grasp of this material.
