Excellent fictional series. However, the true story of the "Cambridge five" is far more fascinating and onion layered than any fictional account. The Cambridge spy network was never fully exposed to the public by design. This was because it wasn't in the interests of all the nations involved (and i do mean all) to expose or capture all the players involved in passing intelligence to the Soviets. It's truly a fascinating story, which helped shape the geopolitical landscape as we know it to this very day and sadly I'm afraid, not necessarily for the better. |
If, right from the 1st episode, the number of episodes in the series could be shown in the detail provided, it wold be appreciated |
Just click on the "+" next to "File List" and you will see the number of episodes. |
Excellent, multi-layered tale of the fallout from the Kim Philby defection to the USSR in 1963. I had read a bit about it over the years but this series added information and dimension to the story, not only in relation to the depth and extent of Philby's activities, but also its effects on his colleagues and friendships. Guy Pearce is outstanding as Philby and Damien Lewis on top form as his fellow spy. |
